I have a mac with photoshop cs2 and I need to send a file over to a pc. How do I make sure the photoshop file will be able to open on windows??

It should open fine ... unless you have type layers that use specific fonts on your computer (but that's a font issue, not a mac/pc issue).

Thats what I thought. But the client cant get it to open. I sent it as a jpeg.

They can't open a jpeg? ... did you add a different extension to the end than what it was (i.e. ... if it's a jpeg it should end in .jpg ... if you added .psd to the end or some other extension, they might not be able to open it.)

Or you can "save as" a tiff. When saving to your desktop a dialog box will appear giving you the options for a pc format.

Agreed Jimking, but a jpeg is a jpeg and it should open fine on either platform. Odd.

Just another option. Now, if that didn't work, well then there's more to the problem. Or operator. but you are right. It should open as a .jpg.

If the jpeg is in CMYK colour mode, that can cause problems for lots of apps, both MAc and PC. Make sure your jpg is RGB.

Good call Hewlligan, especially if being opened in a different program than Photoshop ...

bit late with this but I had the same problem. My client couldn't open a jpeg I sent him I suggested the control i and change the programme its opened with, apparently it doesn't work on a pc like it does on a mac. Eventually he opened it did when it was suggested he use the open with command then go to picture viewer, apparently he was amazed—said why couldn't his IT guys come up with that solution!
