So that nasty PS on blue background beta icon - is that the new creative suite aethetic, or just a temporary beta icon?
*crosses fingers*
I love the current suite icons - but something new will be refreshing, as long as it isn't that horrible PS =/

I noticed that when i was drooling over the Flash demos last night. Yuck. :(
I have to say tho, now that I have worked out a way to afford CS3 I am CHOMPING AT THE BIT. I want it yesterday. I just hope it doesn't totally choke my Quicksilver. If so, I guess I can go back to the old stuff until I can also afford to upgrade computers.

I haven't really seen the official CS3 icons. Are they the ones that look like symbols from the Chemistry chart of elements?
Can I just say that I hate the icons switching colors and objects evey version. When I had CS I got used to the colors of the icon, and could quickly locate in my Doc. When I upgraded to CS2, adobe changed the icon colors, and now I keep clicking on the InDesign when I really want illustrator. Sorry just a pet peeve. I have a lot of programs running and I hate opening ones I don't need. Not to mention Bridge and Acrobat look similiar too.

Dammit. The ugly Ps icon is starting to grow on me.
I don't know why, but it's upsetting. I have a feeling if they're all identical with a different color and letters, they'll look kind of cool lined up on my dock. I think I'll remake them without the gradient though haha.

Someone post a screenshot so we're all on the same page?

Here are the splash screens for Photoshop & Illustrator....The icons are basically just the Ai and Ps on those same colored backgrounds....

Haven't seen the new logos yet, but I'm quite keen on them being different colours. I always have trouble picking which one's which - especially when they're sitting in the quicklaunch bar on Windows.

I liked them having feathers and flowers and stuff better. I am going to get these mixed up with the MS Office icons constantly.
*much mental chatter...need dw... click green... crap launched excel again... need ps... dammit now word is starting... pay attention and click right icons finally*

Meh, won't be a problem for me. The Office apps aren't on my dock at home or my quicklaunch bar at work. The only time they run is when I have to open an Officey document someone else sent me.
But those little teen-weeny, near identical icons in my quicklaunch bar have confused me on numerous occasions. Plus - feather, flower, butterfly? Come on, there are boys working in graphic design, too ;)

What are Braips? I guess they're going for a periodic chart sort of thing ...

I think they're trying to copy the peroidic table of elements with these abbreviation symbols.

I don't believe those icons will be used. They're too bleh.

Looking at them, the Dreamweaver and Flash icons are already pretty much like that now. They will be used, whether you like it or not :p

I'm wondering how many people are going to be swapping those icons with the classic Adobe icons.

No way. I agree that they're boring but they make it easier to know which program you're in. The color is a strong indicator. The shape and lettering also help. The only way this is going to get confusing is if another major software maker decides to use this system.
I don't understand why Acrobat and Reader get to still use their symbols. Perhaps they think too many non-designers use those applications and it would create confusion?

But the older ones had color and icons (more widely recognized ones, at that). Also if what you said was true about the Acrobat icon and it was kept the same to avoid confusion, then that kind of proves the point :)

I always find that my Mail icon and my Preview icon are too similar. Out the corner of my eye I launch one for the other all the time. Not Adobe's fault though, it's Mac's fault.

personally, i found the new designs intrigueing. They had a problem, which was how to brand a bunch of programs so that they retain a sense of belonging to the same family yet allowing each one to grow and have a sense of it's own identity.
I think they handled it perfectly. Like they say KISS.

Yeah it's official - they look sexy on my dock.

Damn! Is that CS3 in your dock or are you just happy to see me? LOL.
I agree with Carter in the fact that they were trying to unite the suite to have a unified look. As much as I thought CS2's Feather, Butterfly, Flower, and other nature symbols were cool, they didn't reall have a theme that unified them together.

Ah, here we go. http://www.artofadambetts.com/weblog/?p=190
Not what I really had in mind (was wanting pre CS logos), but these are nicer looking.

I like spelling BRAID W with bridge, illustrator, and dreamweaver.
Of course, I don't think there is a such thing as a W TYPE BRAID - but um - I'm still trying to spell other amazing things.

I quite like the new icons. But I really *hate* the box designs. They look like cheap 'generic brand' software boxes. Really don't understand.
