is it just me, or is photoshop's way of making workable raster spot documents (aka duotones) completely asinine?!
i all i want is to be able to select either of my two colors at 100% without trying to find them blindly on the color picker....
what was adobe thinking when they decided to make assignable color ranges on a grayscale image?
could they make it any harder to fade from one PMS directly into another PMS!?!?
it's like they haven't touched this part of the application since they came out with it in, what, version 3?
if i was adobe, i'd completely trash everything about Duotones and integrate it into a new "workable" way of using Spot Color Channels...
is anyone else with me here?
ahhhhhhh!!!
i needed that...

They are a pain in the butt. Spot color channels helped a little but it's still f'ed up.

...And could somebody come up with a good way to proof them? That's the part
I really hate. Damn you, ghetto process look!
You are nuts Silence - that feature would be far too useful for Adobe to tackle it anytime soon. Bask in the glow of Photoshop's NEW 3D ability and be happy!

I think the message here is clear.
If you want to use spot colour, Adobe is deliberately making your life hard. They obviously hope we'll all give up, so they can remove all that sort of stuff from the software and stop sending the enormous licensing cheque to Pantone

Thank you Hewligan for enlightening us. It all makes sense now.
Let's just hope Adobe doesn't creat their own rival Adobe coloursystem to rival Pantone.

OMG! Don't even think that. Sometimes monopolies are a good thing.

If only it were a monopoly - well, printers lives would probably be much easier.

Aha. I'll reword it then...
OMG! Don't even think that. Sometimes large corporations that choke out most of their competition int the USA is a good thing.

Haha. It's like someone once told me:
The difference between Microsoft and Adobe is that while they're both monopolies in their respective fields, Adobe got there by making good products.
