Now, I know about type style styles in Quark and InDesign, but sometimes they are not worth creating for what I want to do.

I used to work at a newspaper and we used a program called MultiAd Creator. It was a nice little program for what it did, and had a lot of speed/simplicity advantages over Quark (maybe InDesign, but I can't really comment on that one since I don't use it much). By highlighting a selection of text in one text box (Text Box A), you could hit "CMD+G" to copy the type characteristics (such as the fact that it was Futura Bold 12 pt, 14 pt leading, scaling, space after and so on) then hit "CMD+H" and apply it to another text box (Text Box B). This was great if you just needed some quick little changes. Of course this would only work if the type you selected originally to copy had the same style all the way thru. If it was a mixture of sizes or such, it mucked it up

Is there any such simple commands/XTensions that allow you to do this in Quark (or even InDesign) without messing around with style sheets? Thanks!

Don't know about QUark, but in Indesign the eye dropper tool will pick up text characteristics (also works in Illustrator).

Provided both text blocks (source and destination) are in the same text box in Quack, I believe if you Command-Shift-Option-Click in the source paragraph it will copy the specs of that paragraph into the paragraph that your cursor is in. I could be wrong about the keystrokes, however, it's been ages since I've used Quark on a regular basis.

Eye dropper is a good tool. Make sure you have highlighted text though with the text tool and not the black arrow selection or you'll just be changing the colour! Oops, done that too many times :D

Cool! I never bothered to learn InDesign, but I keep finding out positives with it over Quark (especially Quark 7. Gah, what a bloody nightmare). Thanks for the help. This sorta stuff just makes me wanna switch to InDesign.
