Hi I have a question. I just applied for graphic design at a local college and I got some mail sent to me. It said I needed three pieces of art work along with a 50-100 paragraph document talking about how it best reflects my talent. Im not really sure on what type of stuff I should wright. I dont really wanna say "this best reflects my talent because its really shiny" lol. I need sum tips to wright up something that would really impress them . Thanks I would appreciate it if someone could help!

hmmm, well for starters you might wanna spell check everything you write. when i did my entry letter for college it talked about how I always enjoyed art from the time I was a kid, and how I would always redraw cartoon figures I saw and such. man its been so long I don't really remember all of what I wrote, I just know it was geared towards art and design.

Just be honest. Spell Check, and when describing your art work include the purpose of the work ie. the problem being solved, the application of the work, and/or the process by which you created it (not step by step but include things like, I used a vector mask to combine two images and such in Photoshop or whatever). Also describe how you feel you solved the problem, and what you think makes it a sucessful piece.
Not to sound rude; but if you cant describe what your art means or how you felt when you created it than you might want to look at a different career.
If you are just worried about making it sound right, don't be. You are applying for a Graphic Design degree, not Literature. They are going to look for whether or not you know what you are doing and why you did it.
