I realize it's way late in the game to be asking these questions but we haven't updated to Q7 yet.

1. Does Q7 still have a 48" artboard limitation?
2. Does installing Q7 overwrite Q6? (I read a rumor about this and wondered if it overwrote it or could be installed beside it).

Answers appreciated.

1. Yes, sadly the 48" artboard limitation is still there.
2. You can install 7 without overwriting 6.

Oh, I don't plan on using it. I'm just past due getting a client who hands me a file in it. But if the 48" limit is still in there, maybe my large format clients have learned their lesson...

Anyone know where the overwrite rumor came from?

No problem. I haven't had ANY customers bring in a quark 7 file yet either.

Anyone know where the overwrite rumor came from? I don't have it installed either, so take this with a grain of salt. If I recall, early demo
copies of 7 overwrote the Quark 6.x pref file. And, IIRC, that caused a problem
with the licence of Quark 6 causing it not to open correctly. I believe that the
code and the EULA have been fixed now, so it shouldn't cause you a problem if
you end up installing it.
ps I'm sorry to be too lazy to look it up. I seem to remember that it also overwrote
another folder that had some other important stuff in it. Been a long week here so
my brain is much like a cream cheese danish.

I seem to remember reading in a promotional e-mail somewhere that installing Quark 7 allowed you to also keep your fully functioning version of 6.

I have Quark 6 and 7 installed on the same machine and both still work independently, well as far as I can tell they do.

Not sure what happens if I uninstall 7, will 6 still work? I'm too scared to try.
