I'm not sure if this has been posted before. but its a wonderful read. especially for students and those starting up.

"... would it make sense to ask your mechanic to work on your car for free? Would you look him in the eye, with a straight face, and tell him that his compensation would be the ability to have his work shown to others as you drive down the street?..."

this should be drilled when in school. that your work, however inexperience or newbie you are, has VALUE.

I know this is off-topic, but I'm glad we don't have compulsory service here...

Same here. It wouldn't go down well with the hippies.

I'd be a dodger. :D

Not that I have anything against military or other service. I just believe in free will.

I was actually going to join the Naval Reserves when I was younger, but I didn't have my school transcripts.

i was lucky to be posted to emergency services (paramedics, firefighters etc..) rather than the army. armies are primarily killing machines in my opinion. thats why they have guns. more bad than good. =)

think i will go AWOL if they put me in the army.

maybe im a hippy at heart. haha.

I knew a guy from Singapore that worked in the police force. It was an office job though that suited him well :)

If I had to, I could do with a police office job.
