agggghhhhhhhhhhhh

This is the first time I have had a client who is really driving me nuts.

He is an appointed independent financial mortgage and financial advisor and one of 4 independents in the parnership. I did the original identity for the partners and am working on the identity of the independents who are trading as part of the partnership and therefore heavily endorsed.

Everything is in the same style, layout, font colours etc. but with subtle differences.
This guy thinks he's a designer and keeps sending me his mock ups can I do this, that and the other can we move this change this, how about this. He now wants his logo changing so part of it is in futura light not medium. He wants it thinner. "Yes of course, I say (gritting my treeth) but you are only paying for 8 hours work".

I've got to the point that I'm saying I'll do whatever he wants I can't even be bothered to point out why its not a good idea. I'm sure my teasiness is coming out in my voice over the phone.

He is getting work for a good price as I have a good returning client here with the partners. But this is extracting the michael!!

Ok rant over I will carry on quietly by for now.
Thanks for listening

Peta

This is the first time I have had a client who is really driving me nuts.

At least be thankful for that!!

Weve all had to suck it up and put a starburst on a design or use a corny stock image of a man in a suit on a pogo stick. (why do these photos even exist??) But, unfortunately, the customers always right, even if theyre not. Good luck

eureka.

Take the Michael (out of someone) Vrb phrs. To make fun, tease, satirize. From 'take the mickey'. E.g."I dont like John, he's always taking the Michael out of me."

Take the Mickey (out of someone) Vrb phrs. To tease, to ridicule. Also shortened to take the mick. An abbreviated form of the Cockney rhyming slang take the mickey bliss, meaning 'take the piss'. E.g."Stop taking the mickey out of Billy, he's very sensitive and you're upsetting him." Cf. 'take the Michael' and 'extract the Michael'. [1930s]

Yeah, he hasn't been updating a whole lot since he wrote his book, but still some good stuff. I figured that recent one on stock photo cliches is something many here can identify with.

There aren't many things I don't want to experience in life, but the sensual caress of a parent going through mid-life crisis is one of them.

LOL! I havent been checking much since the Alphabet of Manliness came out, because yea, he slowed down. This is hilarious... thanks reuber

I had a need to scream moment this morning too.

Client who proclaims to have once done some graphic design years ago - though not on a computer wants some business cards and swing tags for her new business venture. After much to and froshe had approved some artwork on Monday. Got a call the next day asking for it to be put on hold because she had more changes.

Then today I get this email: (copy and pasted a section)
I love it!
This is the one....I’m very happy with it.....and thanks for creating the big spiral in the beginning ( this is all your fault...just kidding!)

Just a couple of tiny things:...

Then a list of changes to be made.

You are not allowed to say this is the one and I'm happy with it. When you have a list of changes. When I opened and read the email I was so happy that this job was done. Until I read on...

I love it how they play with our emotions like that.

^yeah an exercise in how to treacle coat remarks.

This is the kind of thing I have had—this is from an email he sent (just one of many not to mention phone calls). For some reason he has CS2 and like playing but knows nothing.

"Have a couple of ideas for logo. (Please see attached) obviously for you to reproduce in the standard colours and lay outs with the appropriate disclaimers. The text is now unaltered but the spacing on the word ‘mortgage’ has been set to ‘visual’ instead of ‘metric’.

Any further changes (from a designers eye) you feel would look better would be appreciated."

well that was my first thought but since it is the font that must not be named my fingers couldn't process the idea =]
