I have a few Quark 7 files that I created with a demo version I dowloaded and need to access them but I have InDesign now. I tried to install another demo copy so I could copy and paste the text but I get a message sayng it can't re-install a demo version. I deleted the one I downloaded from the applications folder but I am guessing there is still a file in a folder somewhere that is telling Quark that it has been there before, is there a way I can get to it and trash it so I can re-install and acces the files? I found apps that convert to InDesign but it really isnt worth me getting them since I will be using InDesign now and if I have tom I will just have to re-set the Quark files from the PDF's that I have.

Which is least expensive?
Resetting the text or buying the Q2InD plug in?
<Does anyone know if this plug-in works for Q7 files???>

Well re-setting is obviousy cheaper, but a lot more time consuming, and the one I found is a beta version, lst thing I want to do is pay for one that isnt going to wokr and hassle for my money back.

The current version of Q2ID supports conversion of Quark 7 files. However, if you're using CS3, it's not supported. They're working on a version that will work with CS3.

I use the older version of Q2ID (doesn't open 7, does open 6). Apart from some conversion glitches, to be expected when going from one program to another, it works very well.

OK, how about the other option, how do I re-install the demo.

I'm not enough of an IT person to know what to tell you to delete in order for the demo to reinstall. Someone else may be able to, but they will need to know what platform you're on and what version of it. Another option would be to install it on another computer. Did you make pdfs of the documents? Would you be able to copy and paste the text from that?

Usually quark pdfs turn into point text if you try to copy paste. Quark is not very helpful.

The question of cost includes time. Your time is money. So figure how many hours to reset at your hourly wage and determine if the plug-in is cheaper (if it works with your version of InD.)

You could save the PDF's as Microsoft Word documents, that would at least get you the keystrokes.
