aww poor thing. cool pictures.
my little babies are safe, they are nesting inside the wall of my kitchen. I've had a window go bad over the winter and the sill gave way. Well there's just enough room for a little nuthatcher to fit in and now there's a wee little nest in my wall. I don't have the heart to "fix it" until the babies are out of the nest. I'll probably have to open up that side of the wall for water damage that's alread occurred, so, eh, I can wait a bit more.

very sweet:) ... I suppose the mother is still feeding it from down there.
I have a couple of pigeons nesting in a cranny in the eaves of my roof. They make a lot of noise when shifting about at night, the sound is loud on the iron sheet roofing and because I din't yet have a ceiling. Pambo (the cat) has taken to climbing up onto the naked beams to see if he can reach them...

What a funny looking friend you have. Are you going to adopt it?

If he was here, Wildlife in Distress would come get it and ensure it's safety.
We have a woodpecker that has babies across the street. The mom continues to come and peck on my house. Sawdust is on the ground under where she keeps pecking. We can't make her stop.

Cornfed - have you tried putting something on your house on that spot to deter her?

Cool. I've got a couple young mourning doves hanging around my back yard, they haven't learned to fear man yet. We better fry them up quick while they're still young and tender. Its making me hungry just thinking about it.
Just kidding. Watch out Spanky, if an animal acts friendly it may have rabies. Or bird flu. Or Avian Monkey SARS.

well, it wasn't there last night... but there was no feathers on the floor or anything so it could have just walked/flown off. A cat got a magpie in our garden soon after we moved in and there were feathers everywhere so i'd like to think the lack of feathers this time equates to a lack of a cat attack.
i was quite chuffed with the pics too :D
