I have 2 job interviews tomorrow (wow I actually feel important). The first one is with Lexus Nexus for some web/graphics position, so I believe I'm pretty qualified, but the industry might be "above" me. The second one is with a headhunter kind of person who found my rez on career builder or something. They "have a job for me" but need to meet with me first. The job, while they wouldn't give much info out, is for a GUI designer and in the architectural industry (??) and is in the pay range I'm looking for. That's about it. So this "interview" is with this dude who called me's "supervisor" and will be held at a Panera bread place. Anybody ever gone this route? What should I expect? Who pays the fee? I assume the company hiring. Are they just pre-interviewing me before turning me over to the company? It sounds fishy to me, but what the hell, it can't hurt I don't guess.

ooh, Panera Bread!
Get the "you pick two" - half a bacon turkey bravo sandwich and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup. Tasty!
Bring cash and be ready to pay for yourself. The meal is usually cheap - the one I mentioned is only about $6. If the interviewer pays, even better.

The Pepperblue Steak sandwich ain't half bad, either.
C.E.: Good luck on your interviews!
If you get hired by a firm through a recruiter, the company that hires you pays the recruiter. You just go along for the ride. If a recruiter ever says you need to pay to find a job, THAT'S fishy, and run away as fast as you can.
It's a good sign that the recruiter wants to interview you first. It shows the recruiter probably wants to make sure that you're a good fit for the position. I got my current job through CareerBuilder and a recruiter, so it can work out well.
And enjoy your lunch!

When it is a recruiter you always got to make sure you get in quick because the recruiter has to interview you and only then can the company hiring interview you.
In the past when it's gone through a recruiter, while I'm doing my initial interview with the recruiter, other candidates are already being interviewed direct by the company hiring. Therefore by the time I am able to be interviewed by the company (a few days after the recruiter interview), they've already seen a bunch of people and the job might be already gone.
So I'm on my merry way down the highway to my 1st interview when BAM I hear a noise, my left front side of my truck drops down and starts to pull so figure I blew a tire, great. Well when I finally look to see the damage, its the whole pancaking wheel - my ball joints broke, leaving the entire wheel, tire and all, leaning way into the inside. I guess I'm lucky I didn't crash. But what a way to leave a first impression on a major job interview like this one!!!!

Ouch...what did you do? I take it you weren't able to get to the interview on time in some other way? (Taxi, ride, etc)
