So, it has been a LONG time since I have updated my personal branding (stationary kit and resume) for myself. (About 4 years to be exact.) I desperately need a fresh new feel and design. I have been kicking around a few ideas for something new. I am 24 (almost) young, energetic, great personality and want to show this. At this point in time, I am more of a hang my hat up at someone else's business (Corporate America), then a free lance designer. So I tried to go more corporate looking, while still having the option of handing a business card out here and there for a side job.

I tend to produce very vector heavy illustrations and artwork. I LOVE negative white space with crisp sharp looks. Currently I am a Prepress Production artist at a rather large fast-growing company right now.

You can view more of my work here:

Here is what I have come up with. Just a simple header for now. I will going to take a stab at the business card portion once I have a more concrete idea here as to what road I am looking to wander down for myself.

A) Green color, halftone print in the background
B) Blue color, tribal design in the background
C) Burnt Orange color, paint brush splash on the side of the bar

Sorry about that... For some reason it won't allow me to edit my original post.

Ckret: I think your basic design is already pretty strong. I would suggest going with a solid colored bar, which would be just fine with the reversed out text. The strongest thing going on here is the contrast between the white space and text/graphic elements.

My favorite business cards (and pretty much any other design work) always have a strong grid holding them down.

Also, your illustration stuff (on the other thread) is excellent.

I can only see the "SML" here at work.

Do you like the 80's?
I've got a Mossimo shirt somewhere.
I think it's supposed to be the new retro now though...

bottom one is cool, colors working good. I agree with John, I'm totally seeing Stussy and Mossimo though. Also... hate to say it, but also looks a lot like GDF's Tony Moore's logo. (YNOT) http://www.tmororegraphics.com

I like the spatter at the end, not sure if it fits your style though, your illustrations are polished and ultra photorealistic. "chrome" is a word that comes to my mind when thinking of ways to describe your work.

Definitely need to do something about the way you have your name in the brown, the font isn't working, and neither is the letter spacing. You might want to do your name in a script font like staccato, or custom lettering. The clean sans serif for "graphic designer" is a good choice though, but you need more personality for your name.

The lime green concept isn't too bad, but the white on lime is a little harsh on the eye, maybe less the lime. Also, again.. total 80's throw in hot pink and it's over.

I'm thinking a metallic looking gray/silver.... maybe even a light-gray with a very subtle gradient might be a good color to throw in your identity color pallette.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine you seem pretty talented.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Really appreciate it! :D

1) I realized after fact that it looks like YNOTs logo. So I did some reading up on his from previous old posts. Oddly enough we seem to use it for teh same reason: "Its the way I have signed my initials forever." Indeed it sucks... But I definately do not want to steal his logo or design though. *sigh* to change it, or not? Tough question....

2) I agree about the ink splat not really being my style. Just kind of threw it out there to see what the general consensus was about it. Glad you mentioned something about it.

3) The lime green is rather harsh on the 'SML' one. For somereason it uploaded funky (pisses me off). But the color is close to PANTONE 376. Lime greeny, but not too much...

4) Thanks for the positive feedback on all my work posted. Never heard of it described as 'chrome.' Very interesting sounding... Really like it being described as that with visions of a 'chrome' /silver logo (PANTONE 877 [metallic])?
