Need some pointers..

Hi Guys..

I have just started web design ..have been working with corel all the time and started expanding into webdesign. I started using Blogger as a platform.
Here are some of my trial sites ..

I am looking mostly at the headers here cause I don't know much about blogspot and the layouts are all basically the same.

First one: The pink sort of throws me off for some reason. Maybe if you added it somewhere else as well. It seems kind of lonely up there all pink and alone. Anyway, I like how you are mixing up the text and not making it all along a straight line, but it is really heavy looking, especially with the drop shadow behind it. I would try a different font. Also there's a bit of an end sticking out on the left where the columns don't meet up for some reason, but you probably already knew that.

Second one: The title is a little too much towards the top and the font is hard to read because it is a dark color and you threw a dropshadow on it. Please don't overuse drop shadow on text, it is okay to make it a light color drop shadow. I like the feel you have going with the font and the logo is cool.

Third one: This is my favorite one because it is simple and has strong colors. I just wish the drop shadow was a lot lighter on the font because it seems to break up the simplicity of it.

All of these are pretty cool and it looks like you are doing a good job so far.

I don't really see why you would use pet goldfish on an angling site. Also I am seeing those iStock jumping goldfish more and more these days in many companies designs e.g http://www.opgraphics.co.uk/index.html

^Their vans are wrapped with the fish as well

ahh yes...the jumping goldfish...have now received them twice on me printed junkmail!

i agree with martyng...they don't fit the theme...nor does the blinking paranha...honestly, it's annoying...

your sites seem to all have issues with ie 6...not rendering well at all...
