It's a project for my graphics 3 class... here's the rough. I always comment on other people's stuff, and I'd love to have feedback on my work for once!

Btw. I made every part of this up, including text. and the grey areas are where it will be cut out.

I like it. It's catching. The color coordination is good.

I agree with Ned, my only gripes are the by line, and the words on the back. perhaps dropping the ing on dating would help, or adding ing to kiss and flirt would help.

Fun! Nice work. I have a little trouble with the D in Decipher. At first I thought it was a lowercase p that had been cut off. Is that they way the font is designed? If it is, I guess it's a matter of personal taste, then whether or not to use it that way. It just threw me off a bit. Maybe it won't bother anyone else.

I like the color combo, it pops and is very appropraite. I also like the front image, with the box and text over the guys face. That is a very effective and striking image. My only criticism is that the d in the main font is very hard to read.

I like it... but I too think the font my need some tweeking... when I first read it... I thought it said "how to decipher you MOM"... maybe because the "a" looks so round..

good job though!

I thought it said decipher your 'mom' too...lol

Is there anyway you can make the blue boxes/lines on the front and back bleed more seamlessly from the blue side of the box? Right now because of the gradient it doesn't quite meld. Granted this wouldn't be as obvious on the actual folded box but you asked for feedback so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Great design!

hahaha thanks you guys! i really love the font, and think it has the right feel, but am frustrated with that D and those A's too... I'm thinking I might make the D bigger to stand out, but not sure what i can do about that a in man. lol i DONT want it to be read "decipher your mom"!

I think its a very good job, i agree with the ther comments, you should use other fonts, also i suggest changing the space between line of text and adjusting the grid a little bit, or maybe adjusting the object so they match with the grid :), you could also use even biger and smaller sizes for the words on the back, i mean you could play a little more with them, just a suggestion.
Nice work.

It's very complex with all the different shapes and sizes you had to work with. You did a great job.

The title font is absolutely horrid. It's not a matter of personal taste, it's a matter of well designed typography - which is not nearly as subjective as it may seem.

I thought that it read "How to decipher your mom" and also that the D in decipher was a P with it's descender removed. Even after I realized it said MAN (only by reading the previous posts,) I continue to see the mom.

It either needs manually tuned, or replaced, imo.

Do they really still make books on tape? Honestly?

Yes. Im pretty sure my grandma has them all.

Cept this one. I cant imagine teenage girls listening to a book on tape though, or even owning a walkman or a tape deck in their car.

most new cars don't even have tape decks!

I agree this seems like a strange product for the market... I could see it being a podcast though.

Yes. I've seen them and they have the CD versions right next to them. My vehicle is so bare bones it doesn't have either one. But I have the iPod and love podcasts.

Back to our regularly scheduled thread though: What did you decide to do about the font icekitty?

very nice work icekitty!
LOVE the colors and the images etc.

aggreed w/ the prev. posts.
what does the lower case "d" look like of that font? or an upper case "A"?
is there a halfway similar font that you could swap out those 'offending' letters?

also, is the paragraph on the back justified?
since there's a paragraph on another panel that is just aligned left,
it might look better to do the same to the one on the back.

just a thought. really impressed though! woo hoo!

those are the only d's and a's of the font unfortunetly...

and we did mention to the teacher that no one even uses tapes anymore! but he didn't seem to care. i think it will still be a neat piece for portfolio

thanks for all the suggestions you guys!

number 3 I guess.

Something (could be the skin tight lime green vest) leads me to decipher that "your man" may be gay. This could be a problem if you are a teenage girl.
