So, while I'm doing some job hunting yesterday afternoon, basically stopping in a few local places and asking if they're hiring for parttime, all of this happened (http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/7795671.html), the first group there that's listed landed less than a mile from my house.

The Bellevue pics don't do much justice, a good chunk of the barn there lost it's roof, and the house in the first pic lost it's roof completely I think, that's just taken from an angle where there's maybe a little bit left. All is well though, just a few scattered twigs and such in town, we fared much better than Muscatine. I didn't hear of any injuries in any of the storms.

eek! That must have been pretty freaky!

I've never had to deal with a tornado or hurricane. I've only seen a few pretty minor earthquakes in my lifetime, too... but then, I guess that makes up for the fact that it seems like 8 months out of every year I'm shovelling snow....

Yeah, it was weird because I was up in Dubuque, which is about 30 minutes north, and I was working out first and I heard it storming, but that was it, but I heard that the weather was even worse down at home. That's the first time since I've lived here that we've had a tornado touch down nearby within daytime. All the others were late in the evening or at night. But yeah, really not that bad in our area, Muscatine definitely got it worse.

wow

I've helped cleanup after tornados before and it's always astonishing on much a bunch of wind can do.

Those storms came through Wisconsin yesterday afternoon. We were told they had died down since the ripped through Iowa, which is crazy because we had a tornado touchdown too. Can't imagine how bad it was down by you. Glad you're OK!

That's craziness Reuber! Glad you're okay!!

We had a very serious storm here in NJ just after Mother's Day. The town I grew up in (Allendale) was hit quite hard and dozens of trees came down, including 2 on my parents' property. My father (who is never phased or scared by anything in the world) was scared out of his wits and truly believed the house was going to be blown away. He was convinced it was a tornado that came through, but NOAA said it was a series of microbursts (similar, but they behave differently).
