Mountain dew just released some limited edition metal bottles, design by different artist. Some of the designs are really unique, especially in the packaging industry.

I just saw the ad for this in Advertising Age, last night. Which is funny because, the other day I bought a coke and someone said the packaging looked weird. In fact it was the regular standard Coke label. But I explained how Marketing likes to change up the packaging to help increase sales. The cashier tho gave the standard, "that doesn't work". But actually it does.

So after that whole thing I saw this and thought "that's how you change the packaging."

Marketing 'changing up the packaging' has lost a few clients my business. If I can't find it on the grocery shelf, I pick up something else (and the cashier might be one of the people who gets asked, "Where The F* is my product!")
In a couple of cases, I liked the new product better. Branding is called branding for a reason...and brand recognition is a part of that.

It was loading a little slow for me, but some cool designs. I enjoyed looking at them.

The only thing I didn't like is the misleading "Green Label". I thought they were referring to being environmentally friendly somehow and not because Mountain Dew has always been associated with the color.

yea the loading was killing me too. way to complicated of a site and i couldn't find a place to turn the sound off. some of those designs are pretty sweet. i like the the hill billy one.

I can't get it to show me any actual designs. Only shivery logos. My computer seems to hate large flash files, though, so maybe thats why.

interesting artists, mostly dark, twisted, psychotic stuff... *sigh very talented but it's too bad this is where art is headed.
