Hello my people.

If you have a sec... please check somethin' out for me if you would. As most of you know, I am a flasher, and I have created a new site for ICTC (thats Illinois Christian Teen Convention). The site isnt finished, but its getting there. I am aware that there are some missing items, and unfinished linkage.

If you would though... please let me know how smooth the motion is for you... very choppy, some choppyness, not choppy really, or.... smooth as ice.

Its almost all actionscript, but I may be asking too much of some comp's.

Also, let me know what you think of the overall look of it. Make sure to change it to the color of your choice in the lower left.

If something looks "cut off" unnaturally, please let me know, and what resolution are you viewing with.

I have coded the site to arrange itself relative to the browser size.... so play with that if you like...

OH, that splash page is not going to be there.... it was for my testing purposes only. Thanks!

Here is the test site. (http://www.flywellcreative.com) AGAIN ITS NOT COMPLETE!!!

Thanks in advance.. sorry so long.

I think everything looks good. I'm not a fan of the material :) , but seriously, it looks like it was a great design and well executed.

An impressive piece of work. No glitches as I can see.

iMac OS X 10.4.8
Intel Core 2 Duo
2.33GHz
2GB RAM
FireFox and Safari

There is something to be said for coding entirely in Flash, as this leaves you less prone to html browser differences. However I'm sure someone will correct me on this statement. :rolleyes:

Everything works great for me, using the same setup as Carter.

The only question I have is how search engines will treat this, isn't that one of the big obstacles to doing a site entirely in Flash?

As far as I know, but I'm REAL rusty on the web scene.

Combine your rustiness with my extreme lack of experience, and I guess that just colors us possibly clueless. ;)

Hey thanks for the comments all.

yeah, when it comes to SEO... Im still pretty clueless. I have a little experience with some back end spiderable's.... but that will definately be a challenge. Unfortunately ... the SEO isnt really on the top of my list. I have a friend or two who's really into it, maybe I will ask them for help.

Thanks for the nice comments!!

Well if the SEO needs are minimal, then you probably don't need to worry about that too much, cnic.

Anyway, the site looks nice, and functions completely smoothly for me. Good job. :)

looks cool to me - same setup as tato
just a coupla things tho and i'm sure you're in the middle of sorting them or something but the side menus for me go behind the main content so i can't see them. :)

I really like this, it looks great and works fine on my machine (1400 x 1050 safari Mac G5 dual 2).

One thing though, you appear to have double spaces after full stops, which is generally considered a bit of a no no.

The sweeping animations runs slow/jerkily on my computer.

Dual 3.2 P4 (not core, dual proc)
w/ 1 gb ram (to be fair it's got a boat load of security crap running on it).

Any onClipEvent (load or enter frame especially) I know can absolutely kill fps.
It might also be the tween on your window sizing depending on how you have that setup.

the flash is running fine on my old laptop ( AMD 3000 (equiv 1.8mhz) with 512 ram)

However there's a few technical aspects. I'm on a truewidescreen at 1200x800 and the "creative" part of your logo is cut off.

The copyright at the bottom is barely readable

The "Registered to attend" makes me feel like I'm already registered - this can be confusing to a user.

And I can't switch tabs in Firefox while your window is open.

~~~~~~~~
And right now I wish you were working at my workplace instead of this person who only did flash "for fun" and is 6 years out of date.
Would you be able to tell me how long this took?
Smooth as butter and half the fat.
Looks nice - really slick. The only thing I noticed is the text on the "green" "pink" and "blue" tabs is really blurry. Actually, almost all the text down at the bottom of the screen is a bit blurry.
Also ( you probably already know this ) the windows that slide in (music player etc) slide in under the content instead of on top.
for the record, I'm using Windows XP and IE6 at 1280x1024.
Wow. Usually, you don't see the word flasher with Christian in the same sentence! ;)
Thanks all for more great feedback.
Ex -Mac. - You guys are cracking me up...
Obesebee - Thank you. Old habit. I recently read a thread about this, you would think I would remember. Odly, I was never, ever corrected for double spacing in school.
Drazan - Thanks, I hadn't really considered that the registered number could be confusing... but I see what you mean, and I will think on that. I know what your saying about the flasher you work with... bummer. This one took me 4 - 6 design hours, and about 25 - 30 build hours. Hopefully you dont think thats slow, but if so.... IM DOING IT ALL MYSELF!! :) Thanks Drazan.
JohnG - I'm going to streamline some code before this is posted, and I will PM you to have you test again. So far you are the only on that has reported choppyness... but I want to try and clear that up. Its all scripted, no timeline tweening. But I may still be asking too much.
Thanks all... keep the reports coming, if you havent already weighed in.
Capt.Spanky - Thanks for reminding me about that. I know those are layered too low... I just keep forgeting to raise them up. Thanks.
Mac. - Thanks for letting me know about the blurry pixel fonts. I just need to get them on the integers and keep them there I guess. Thanks.
Thanks!!
