why the flying phuck is there never any set standard?
why are there so many ways to make a function work and so many ways for a function NOT to work?
why is it that the moment that i get something to work, another function is disabled?
why oh why did my trade school have such crappy HTML classes?
why does one phrucking end tag ruin everything?
why does javascript appear as a complete blur to me?
function killyourself= {design website + no experience

There is. See w3c.org.
That is what programming is about.
Good question.
Because it sucked. See w3schools.com
Because if it didn't then the Internet would be full of poorly written pages...Oh wait, it is. You must not be using IE. Good for you.
The red contact? Monitor settings? You are drunk?

now that is a good little bit of marketing.
ryan, if you were any sharper you'd cut yourself.
I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.

Graphic Design Heroes! Call me Captain Type Caster. I’ve fought off “The Evil Cosmic Sans” for year but it seems “Dr. Extreme Untalent” keeps bringing him back. I must find a way to defeat this evil creature.

Oh, sorry meant to reply to REDeye when Ryan stole the show. Add show-stealer to Ryan's list of attributes...
RED - I am with you man. Artists need to design imagery, while code designers make the clock tick... It should be a teamwork thing. It gives everyone some company while they're working and makes for more jobs...
Sorry you're having the probs guy. I suspect that if Ryan is recommending w3c.org or lsmft or whateveritis, it must be a good thing. Gotta carve out some time to get that stuff down as long as the world isn't going to change into Utopia any time soon...
Good Luck with it

Okay...I had time to cool the hell off. I've actually progressed quite a bit. Code doesn't look so intimidating now. I've never had to cut and paste so much in my entire career.
Here's the page I'm working on: www.darkhusslaproductions.com.
I've gotten most it it to work properly (so I hope). But for some ungodly reason my background image refuses to appear. It looks fine when I load it from my drive or a CD, but not online. I have no idea why.

It's working for me, I think.
All I can say is use external CSS. You have a huge style section.

http://www.graphicdesignforum.com//emoticons/blink.gifREALLY!? You can see it?
Wait...you're Neo. Of course you can see it.
My browser can't see it. I'm using IE 6. It works fine off the drive or CD.
I'll try placing the background code on the external stylesheet. Didn't even think about trying that.

Should I transfer my entire style section to the external file? Is it as simple as cut and paste?
Ryan8720

Absolutely. If you move it to an external file, then all you have to do is edit one CSS file for the entire site. Internal CSS defeats the purpose.
I suggest you go to designertoday.com and search CSS. I have 2 or 3 articles on there and one of them addresses this.
Hmmm. Maybe I'm not seeing the bg. I see all the pieces that load, but when I tried to view http://www.darkhusslaproductions.com/images/DHindex_bg.jpg where you are linking to, I get a 404. I don't think the bg is on the server, or at least it's not in the right place.

http://www.graphicdesignforum.com//emoticons/dry.gifWell, that was weird.
All I did was rename the background file and corrected the link on the html.
And now it works.
Thank you Ryan. I appreciate the help.
At last I can rest.
