Skewing Type in Illustrator

I need to skew some type in order to make it look like it's on the cover of a three dimensional book. I am trying to do only one letter, and the only way i can figure out to do it is to direct select every single point and edit the type point by point by point by point..............

I'd rather NOT do this so if any of you have some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

outline the type and use the 3D rotate option in the effects menu I think.

I think you might also be able to do it without outlining the type as well.

I ended up just using the shear tool and making a vertical adjustment. Worked pretty well.
