I have many pics i want to share on the net on my personal website but i cant think of an easy accesible way of presenting them to the public! They are divided in certain periods of time. Has anyone seen a clever/not boring way to present them online? Anyone seen anything similar that looks good and also is practical?

There's no shortage of slideshows out there, some free, some not. Also there's sites like pbase, which while they're not part of your site, do everything for you, for a small annual fee.

G1.5 can be installed with no database
G1.6 is a hybrid project that just is coming out.
G2 is a very powerful Database driven gallery web app.
It's free and I was part of the Development team for G1.5 (I created the css skinning system for it).
I should be relaunching http://pownuke.com by the end of the weekend and it has over 100 free skins for G1.5. (Right now the gallery skin links are broken.)

There is a plethora of ways to do what you want. This is where the creativity comes from. The best thing to do is google portfolios and find some inspirational ways others have done it. I've accumulated a bunch of inspirational portfolio sites, in fact that's why I started the GDF portfolio thread, to help see the ways my fellow GDFers have done theirs. But it's not that hard to find these sites.

Well here's how I did it, for my own use. http://www.jpages.net/images/pics/Pics.htm
The basic layout though isn't unique or anything. There's thumbs and and you click on them to show them larger, and they're broken up into 5 galleries, each can hold 60 pics. Then there's a slideshow page. No biggie.

I should tell you that I wrote that so you won't find one EXACTLY like it on the web, but the way it's organized is quite common, I think.

Gallery is for your own site - not an online service. But it is a way to organise your photos on the fly. You don't have to code each and every page.
The site you liked to was done in flash, and was a simple slideshow animation.
