The other day I mentioned a client commenting with - 'Don't you have one of those logo books...' Meaning rather than design a custom logo for them - simply 'cut' one out of a resource.

Here's a copy of an email I got today - people this is one of our competitors...

Our Logo Gallery

I'm sure these kind of services appeal to people that would never come to us, but while some of our brethren talk about starving, more gigs glide garrulously into Gehenna!

Attached is a sample from their site... You know, now that I've had a little time to think about it - seems like what a bunch of you guys ought to be doing. If you're not doing it already! Gotta keep up with change - mostly.

I wonder how many potential clients simply steal their logo from sites like the one in the email?

Comments? Opinions?

You know the day a client came to me and knew the meaning of the word logo, I knew it was the beginning of the end...

Then they started bringing in what they wanted as PowerPoint images - where they or their brother-in-law had designed it - for me to 'clean-it-up'. That was the day I quit GD and went into anime... very few clients come in with their own anime - yet...

Unc your mind is a boiling caldron of creativity. Have a good gig tonight!

Those sites... They're fun to play with.
I had fun with one of them some time back pretending I was getting a sign done and wanted to buy one of their $14 logos for it. Can't believe the number of times the guy emailed me back for a silly $14. The company advertised as having 'High resolution logos suitable for any business use.' The logo they would send turned out to be a jpg file at 3' x 4' at 300dpi (not vector art). I kept having to 'call my sign shop' and musta got about 4 replies before he actually admitted his logos didn't have the resolution to do a sign.

PrintDriver is a large format digital print dude. His advice/opinions may not apply to the 4color/offset/web world of printing
