The interview one at the bottom is one of John Langdon's and is way older than 2007.

Now that the industry has overcome the production issues of gradients

Really? This is the stupid asinine idiotic ramblings that noobie uneducated "designers" read that makes them think it's okay to use gradients in a logo. The main "Production Issues" have not been overcome, but people are willing to fight each time they need productions done. Then want to bitch about overages and such. Well, if your designer had realized that there is a reason why the majority of the free world has steered clear of gradients, then you wouldn't have that problem.

oh but no, it was a decent article.

BTW, just realized NOT one company have I EVER heard of. That's like saying PC Cola is making the trends in Soda Retail.

They're probably smaller newer companies. They're more likely to go for new concepts.

Jeffism #7: (http://blog-omotives.blogspot.com/search/label/Jeffism) "When a graphics industry expert proclaims something a current 'design trend' it is a 'breaking news' message to designers everywhere that the specific 'trend' should be avoided from that moment on - rather than followed by a thundering flock of design sheep."
