Here's the scenario:

1. MacOS 9.2
2. Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0
3. Toshiba Fiery Driven printer

When printing, Acrobat adds extra margins to my PDF file. I know that my PDF is set up correctly and I can't find anywhere in Acrobat that will let me disable the margins it's adding. I've looking in Page Setup, Print and every other mildly-related menu I can find. Sooooo frustrating. Please help.

Hello again Delete yourself, just saw and answered you on another thread...did you read mine about airbrush style?

Can't help, just saying hello. I haven't figured out how to use acrobat except to choose it in Illustrator when a printer wants it. I would like to know how to setup a portfolio in acrobat, with a bunch of pages on one document. Do you know how to?

Good luck with your question....I'll bet print driver would know the answer!

im going to take a stab in the dark here and say its probably your printer. Have you ever had this problem before? I just know that since my printer is hooked up to my puter, everytime I make a new doc in Illustrator, my margins are really off (1/4inch on top, 3/4 inch on bottom) because that is how my printer prints. now you say your on a fiery, which makes me believe that you should be having no problems at all. Try saving down to acrobat 4 and try that....sorry, kinda week advice but maybe someone else can be more elaborate.

I'll try that, D-Frag, thanks.

Patricia, and easy way to set up a portfolio for Acrobat is putting all of your pieces into a Quark document, and then PDFing it. You can do this a few different ways. If you have Adobe Acrobot Distiller, you should use that. Print your document to a file, using the postscript driver (instead of choosing a printer). This will creat a .ps (postscript) file. Then open Distiller and drag the .ps file into it. Your entire Quark document will then turn into a multipage PDF.

If you don't have Distiller, you and Export to PDF from Quark. The problem with this, though, is that you have less control over your PDF file, and the filesize tends be rather large. Hope that helps!

So Distiller is a program I need to get? I never thought about using Quark, rather avoid it. I am going to reread your words until I understand what they mean.

Sorry, didn't mean to get all techy on you. I believe Illustrator CS has 'Save as' PDF function, though I'm not sure how well it works, or whether you can save multiple page documents with it. Somebody else may be better suited to answer those questions. Distiller is helpful, b/c it allows you the most customizable, and reliable PDFs.

I sound like a friggin' ad.

You didn't get all techy on me....I have trouble comprehending the written techy words and have to reread them over and over...that is what I meant!

I am going to try something.....I really want a pdf portfolio to send out when needed.
Peace

Re the printing problem - in Acrobat's print settings, under the 'Copies and adjustments' section, do you have any of the boxes checked? If so, try unchecking one at a time, and seeing if this helps.
