I need help designing a nice ad for a pooper scooper business. I designed the logo and just need a few ideas to get me started I will post what I have.

The image for the ad is way too small to see anything, so I can't critique it.

The logo is cute, though I'm debating whether it's too cute. Keep in mind that at some point, your client will likely need their logo to work for a grayscale newspaper ad or even in solid black. It may work for grayscale, but many of those colors will all look like the same shade of gray. I don't think it would work at all if you needed it in solid black.

And don't feel tied in to using that font just because its name has the word "Dog" in it. ;)

It's too small for me to read anything, but the 2 columns of text in the centre have very odd placement. I would stick to 1 column of text on a small ad like this.

If it's for a pooper scooper business, then why advertise doggie diapers? That is very misleading and doesn't get the point across for what service they are offering.

Why not have a shovel or scoop of some sort behind the tail of a dog. Dont show the dog, just show the tail, so the rest of the dog is imagined. The tail will bleed off the edge of the paper. I think the message will easily be implied. You don't need to show poop.

I agree. When I see the diaper, I think of poop being smeared all over the dog!

I wanted to do that but that is not what they wanted. I made a few sketches and thought they were great but it was not what they wanted. They wanted to dog in the diaper. But I am going to try your idea I will post it up.

No one cares about your business so the goal in an ad is to pursue them to care based on someones fears and desires. For instance, if the poop isn't cleaned up then perhaps the kids will get a hold of it. However, this ad has been done before and the campain was of children building toys with poo- it was great. You saw the image initially before reading the copy of a child making a dog out of poo and that made you wonder and want to read more. That is the goal of an ad- to pursade based ones fear or desires- not just present information no one cares about with a "pretty" graphic. Therefore, I would recommend taking the ad back to the concept board. The question you need to ask yourself is what services (conceptual or literal) does the business offer the consumer that either prevents a fear from happening or makes possible a desire.

I can already now tell you that ad has way too much information. I agree with tZ it needs some focus.
