Hi, i need to render off a big image in my 3D package for a poster board that my client wants for 3 metres high, does anyone know at what pixel dimensions i need to be rendering it off at in order to make it print quality?
Thanks!

Depends. Most of the time when you want to make something "print quality," it means 300dpi, but for somthing like a billboard you can often use a lower resoltion.
3 metres is about 118 inches, so at 300dpi, that would be 35400 pixels.
But, at that size, I'd be surprised if you need more than 150dpi, which works out at 17700 pixels.
To be sure about the resolution, you really need to ask the printer. For that larger stuff, the answer can vary quite considerably.
If you can wait a bit longer though, one of our large format people will probably be along with a better answer.

3m high? By how wide?
You probably won't need more than 100dpi but ask the printer. If it's even wider than 9m you can probably go even lower (35-75 depending on the device and your viewing distance). Ask. Save yourself some render time.

Ah well looks like ive hit a barrier anyway, my 3d package wont allow me to render above 5700 pixels high otherwise i get an out of memory error. The client will just have make do.

5700 pixels is 80" right? At 72dpi? Depending on the print machine it might be ok. Unless there is small text.

Thankyou, there is no small text thankfully. Also congrats on the 10,000 posts :)
