Hey you guys...Could you give me a list of the parts that most wide format printers need to be replaced overtime? (belts, printer head etc.)
Thanks:o

Whatever breaks or wears out.
Depends on the printer and who makes it too.

I thought there were like basic things that go bad in printers...like printer heads and the belts...

I think the thing was that your question seemed really vague. A lot would depend on the printer type/company etc...
But obviously ink is constantly needing replacement. Same thing with the cleaner fluid (forgot it's name, it's been a while). Cutting blades (if you actually use them.) Head covers might need replacement after a few years (go for full metal, less chance of needing replacement.) Usually the head's cover needs replacement because the back and forth motion causes the screws to eat into the plastic. belts should last quite a long time. The heads usually are pretty good for a while, unless you start playing experiments with new media and get headstrikes. Headstrikes are probably the biggest reason for early replacements of any parts. Then there is the logic boards sometimes go out. (it caused a few months of headaches on the Mutoh). Also a lot of screws need to be double checked from time to time both on the rollers (take up and the one on the back) or even on the front of the machine.. ours started to get loose after a few years and required a monthly tightening session... otherwise it would allow the media to get closer to the head causing either a calibration problem or worse headstrikes....
and that's off the top of head from a memory of my time when I used to work on them.
OH, and cleaning supplies... and then the little pad that the heads use to clean off old ink, it's a little square thing (don't do the ghetto brillo pad thing it is NOT good.)
