Hi,
I am setting up a business selling old football (Soccer) team pcitures - I have decided to call the business Old Football Pictures to keep to the point. It will be web based at oldfootballpictures.co.uk

I have attatched an image of a logo i have made. I was going to go for something to include a football theme, but they ended up becoming too busy, and so thought i would try this one out with just the initials. Any comments on it?

no concept- no logo… amongst other things.

Doesn't look as if to much thought was put into this- to be quite honest.

This doesn't say football pictures it says kiddie and amateur.

I'd reconsider.

I agree with tZ..

I'd try to create a soccer emblem like every soccer team has. (Like: http://images.odeo.com/5/7/7/Manchester-United.png)
Then customized to your company of course... That would for sure associate the viewer with soccer. Not many companies today are using an emblem as a logo (perhaps due to the complex form that emblems often have), but in your case it would be perfect... that's my thought anyway :).

If you don't know where to start look at some logos at http://www.logoworks.com/golf-courses-logos.html . They don't have sports logos but I guess golfing logos are pretty close. Get some Ideas there.

That's not a logo. It's some text and some more text.

Think of a concept first. Then explore a few ways to represent the concept.

Failing that, hire a designer.

Another option would be to combine 2 simple elements: one for pictures and one for soccer and just use the text (Old Football Pictures) as apposed to OFP. :)
Hello everyone...my first post here!

The way I would approach it is by doing as much logo/image research as possible. Then doing heaps, and heaps of thumbnail sketches of combined elements. Pretty much what everyone said here.
I reckon you can still use OFP as a logo, but you should consider its readability at various sizes.

Actually "some text and some more text" can be a logo - this one just doesn't say much about the entity it is identifying. When you are using imagery this simple it is good to customize the primary text or incorporate a graphic within the text. A basic treatment in this case might be to use a beat up old soccer ball as the "O."

You might want to check out my bLog-oMotives entries here (http://blog-omotives.blogspot.com/2007/01/making-logo-design-concept-your-own.html) and here (http://blog-omotives.blogspot.com/2007/01/making-logo-design-concept-your-own_30.html) to get a better idea of what I am trying to convey.
