G'day poppet! There are a fair few of us on here that didn't start out studying Graphic Design, but came to realise it was the job we really wanted later on.

For me it was the constant brainwashing at a young age that even if you love art, you're better off sticking with science as a proffession, because "you can always do art as a hobby".

Speaking of changing jobs, has anyone heard from Spug? Has he joined the TA now? Not heard a peep out of him in weeks and he was suggesting that he wanted to. We should find out if he has, cos he'll be in Iraq in 6 months and we could write him some letters or send him a GDF christmas card.

Welcome Griffin. I'll be flying across the ditch to OZ tomorrow morning. Is it cold over there? I think I'll just wear what I'd wear in Auckland.

Haha. Rubber Dinghy. I'm sorry to say I don't have one of those lying around. Will a queen size air mattress do?

I plan on being mostly inside - it's a business trip, but hopefully we get all the business done early and get some shopping done too.

Will a queen size air mattress do?That should suffice after all it is only precautionary. Maybe you could attach a small outboard motor to it :)

No outboard motor. I'll bring flippers and use the mattress like a flutterboard.

lol, you should try being in QLD.Toowoomba at the moment! its either pouring down rain or its blistering dry winds. The coldests its been here is minus 5!!...but i also hear theres been massive floods down that way?

Thats exectly it, I went through the exact same "brainwashing" at a young age that i should stick to ICT have use my love of art as a hobby lol so i figured combining the both would pretty mutch give me graphic design...so here i am!
Anyway, thank you all for welcoming me to the forum!

Welcome to GDF! :)

Frankster I e-mailed Spug a while back (his user profile allows e-mails), he said he's been really busy but has missed us. He didn't mention anything about enlisting, however. I definitely miss him too, he was a great addition to the forum.

welcome aboard, Griffin!

If you haven't already read over the threads posted HERE (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=42), I'd recommend it... they explain just about everything you need to know about the forum. :)

Hi Griffin!

From one newb to another ;)

I, too, have a deep seated passion for graphic design and, like you, feel I've have taken far too long to get my backside onto a course.... but I'll be joining a Higher Ed course in GD in September!

Welcome, enjoy the forum - they seem like a lovely bunch and I'm already learning from them by reading some of the threads!

:)
