hi guys, im getting some flyers printed for a clubnight and im not sure what thickness to go for. whats the standard?
ive currently got a quote for 7000 A5 flyers at 130 gsm, full colour, double sided for about £200. this seems really cheap to me so im wondering if thats because 130 gsm is a bit of a crappy weight????
ive spent a lot of money on the designs so i want them to look good in print. would 350 gsm be a more sensible thickness???
please help!!

I must be overseas as that isn't clicking in my head.
Hopefully soneone here can help.
Can they send you a paper sample so you can see if that weight is fine or not?

you should also consider whether to get coated or uncoated paper

I think that's lighter than 100# text, which is a bit on the thin side. I think you might want a heavier paper. This is when I usually turn to my swatchbooks. A lot of paper companies offer them for free on request. Domtar, Neenah, Fox river and Mohawk all offer fantastic swatch and/or promotional materials that can be a big help in these areas. I can't tell you how many times I've used my Mohawk Via Vital information book. It rocks!

130gsm is too thin. 250-300 gsm is a good thickness for a flyer.
Get samples.

talk to your printer - ask them to tel ll you who their paper supplliers are.
Call the supplliers and ask them to send you sample books - they will free of charge
then you can show the client samples
no guess work

my two cents - 150 gsm is good enough - personally 300gr is what we use for business cards - too thick for a flyer.....

I guess it depends on whether you want postcard like flyers or paper flyers. I prefer postcard flyers.

The club flyers I've had done here in the UK have been on 180gsm and 200gsm.
I have done a 300gsm flyer but it was for more of a keepsake not a stand in the street handout and bin job.

most printers are willing to ship you samples of the stock you plan to use before you place the order, without making you jump through hoops or contact their distributors.
