I am working on a template at http://sharpeinvesting.blogspot.com.

My main question is what you think of the logo. I'm not really sure what to do with the blue header bar and I am unsure if the size of the logo is appropriate. I would appreciate if anyone had ideas or suggestions about what to do with this header space. The navigation and content is really basic currently. I just wanted to make the template and add more elemnts later. Thanks!!

hey mwgr5.... welcome to the forum.

I checked out your site.... but..... well I didn't really see a logo. I guess your talking about the Sharp Investing text at the top. I kinda think that right now, it looks like its just text.

Looking forward to what you keep coming up with.

I agree. It just plain ol' text. Nothing really interesting about it. The kerning is poor. There's nothing unique about your type selction. Also, not sure what's going on in the background. It's distracting and doesn't add anything. It looks like it says "SISI" over and over, which one could interpret as "sissy." Not exactly what I want in an investment company.

I never though of teh sissy interpretation. Thanks for sharing your input. Any ideas or tutorials about making a better logo or kerning that you could point me to weould be appreciated!

An idea is the first step.

A top of the i in a contrasting value/color is not a concept.

Think about intangible concepts/definitions that relate to your business or what you services you offer. Then find objects that relate. That is how you begin a logo.

The secret is to start on paper.

A great logo says everything:

If your truly serious though(not to knock your design) but, it would benefit your image to hire a professional.

Thanks for the help. I made some modifications to the logo. I removed the background letters and changed the kerning. Could you please check out the logo. The new page with the new logo is http://www.sharpeinvesting.com/. (http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/2038/biglogosimple5zw9.jpg)

If you could please check the kerning, as I just learned about this tonight, to make sure it is OK, I would appreciate it very much. Also, if you have any thoughts on what to do with the blue background. Should I just leave it like it is, or add something in the background for more interest.

Thanks.

Also, I'm open to any suggestions about the logo. I am not set on this design, so I would be willing to make complete changes.
