is there an easy way to find who is linking to what images from my site.
I would love to replace those with a nice goatse image. :D
Thanks
There is a way. I don't know how they do it but I've seen it done.

honestly, I know that there is a way to do it, I just have no idea what it is. (My web knowledge could probably fit into my coffee mug with room to spare. Mmm... coffee! *drool*)

go to your cpanel and you can look at your stats.. mine's called "awstats". The "latest visitors" shows pretty much everything being downloaded within the last ~75 times or there abouts. At least with my hosting co.

You can what people are linking too in a couple of ways that I know of.
1 Google, open an account with them and they can trace allelements of your site, in and out.
Also go here..

Or try going to Yahoo (Google doesn't work as well) and type in link:www.yoursite.com/image.jpg and it should show you the inbound links to that image. Make sure it's the full path to the image.

Haven't seen goatse for myself and don't plan on it! My bf's description of it was enough for me.

God, I still have horrible mental scars from back in the day when people used to put sneaky Goatse links into Slashdot posts. That was a bad time for all involved.
Then there was the time my flatmate called me over and showed me Lemon Party (<--If you google it, you'll be sorry - and possibly fired) - he's dead now.
To do the image replacement trick, you need to use a .htaccess file. That's quite safe to google. Depending on your hosting provider, they may or may not let you use a .htaccess file, but if they do, you set it up so that if there's a request to your images directory, and it's not coming from one of your pages, you return something... interesting...

I looked it up on urbandictionary.com and was glad that I did not google it.

I wouldn't have thought Urban Dictionary had much info on .htaccess files ;) :D

Haha! My bf always plays lemonparty jokes on people.
Example: He set my flatmate's desktop image to lemonparty and then opened up lemonparty in every single application he had on his computer. So he'd close photoshop only to be greeted with LP in word, and then LP in flash etc etc until he got to the desktop. Golden!

but he'd have to lemon-party himself quite a few times to set that up :\

I think he's immune to it. Or he feels like the priceless reaction is enough to suffer through it.

Crosslinking to a all and everything you need to know about .htaccess that I wrote a few years ago. Some hosts treat .htacess differently and there's a few other options in the thread.
