I designed a logo in Illustrator and I am in CMYK preview. The letters are in dark blue when I export to a Tiff format in CMYK the blue is much much lighter and the quality looks different. I know CMYK will do that but I am in CMYK preview and the blue is the dark blue that i want on screen.
Need help.

um....
I'm a bit worried if you don't know what Pantone is. It gives me a feeling that you might not understand enough about profiles and calibration.
pantone is a spot color- they aren't magical to point they can fix your problem.

Out of a PANTONE (www.pantone.com) book. From the sounds of it, your profile is incorrect in the program you are using (crossing profiles?). So when you export it out it comes out looking funky....
Also, and you define "Quality looks different" please?
___________
Side note, I was asking for the PANTONE color to see if it would act funny when I printed it (lighten up). CMYK just might not be able to reproduce the color he is asking his computer ot produce.... *shrugs* Sounded better in my head! :D

I have to get this printed. Would it be best to send in AI format?

Even if you send it for print, ai, eps, pdf, if you can't define the colors in a way the printer can match, you get what you get. And trust me, it WON'T look like what you see on your monitor.
Why are you putting it in Photoshop?
Do you know if your programs' profiles are matched? My guess? If you haven't changed your Illustrator profile to US Coated Swop V2 you are using the Illy 6 emulation that comes as the default. That will change your colors because Illy 6 was WAAAAY back before Pantone changed their color formulae in 2000. I have no idea what Photoshop's default profile is. Probably sRGB.
