Ioriginally posted this on the comments and questions forums. Several kind hearted replies later and I still dont have any answers.
Maybe someone here can help me. Let me attempt to articulate my delema. Cut to the last paragraph for the meat of my question.
I've created a package design for a music recording I participated in. It was created in CorelDRAW 9 using mostly shapes and designs conceptualized with the drawing and shape tools integrated with the software. What was not created in CorelDRAW 9 was actually created using the drawing tool in MSExcel '97 (Unfortunately, these items were copied/pasted and not "imported" as would be the standard, since, as far as I can tell, this is not a function supported by MSExcel '97). ...Anyway,most if not all shapes in the design have various color gradients in them to make the design stand out as I invisioned it.
The process above has worked well for me up to this specific point:
When submitting my work to be printed in bulk, part of the requirements is that all works be submitted in CMYK color. I have run into significant limitations with this as the CorelDRAW 9 software does not appear to support gradients in CMYK... unless I turn the graphic into a bitmap. Unfortunately, in doing this, I lose the sharpness of the design and all ability to manipulate the seperate objects is lost. This may be a problem for the folks I send the work to for printing if there are unforseen design flaws effecting the printing process. It may be a problem for me if the maximum impact of my design is compromised by the lower resolutions resulted from turning the image into a bitmap.
Surely, there is something I'm missing?
Any help on this is GREATLY appreciated.
