I'm having a bit of a problem here, I made the following black tower with one white strip on the right through the 3D effect in Illustrator, but I want to be able to cut the tower and add blocks or remove blocks as necessary.

The tower in the middle with 2 white lines is just figurative of what I'd like it to do.

Do you know how can I do this, and still keep the perspective with adding and/or removing blocks?

EDIT: Also, I was wondering if I can then have the blocks into separate layers in Photoshop?
EDIT2: Maybe "Issues" is the best sub-forum for my thread? Sorry!

To have editing access to a 3D object go to Object>Expand.
BUT, depending on the shading you used, this could be a horrible mess. Usually cubes and flat planar surfaces are ok and separate alright but if you have any kind of a curved surface, the shading breaks up into steps and those white stitch lines you see may actually print. So check after expanding that the look is still what you want. The 3D tool in Illy is still in its infancy. I'm hoping they get it a little stronger in future releases. It wreaks absolute havoc for sign guys sometimes. (FYI if using 3D effects in a logo, be darn sure you create a flat, simple outline version of said logo.)

you should make perspective lines to guide you.

That's part of what I mean about Illy's 3D tool. It won't calculate multiple objects to a single vanishing point either.
