Forcefully gone from the net

My laptop is completely dead. :mad:

Either the connection for the power plugin broke from the board or the power supply is dead.

I'm officially screwed cause I have zero moneys to get another one. At best I'll boot up the 800mhz minimonster. So it's limited at best non-existant at worst. I'll try to check in at lunch time during work but that is usually only 10 to 15 minutes.

Lucky enough, that I can grab the drive out of it and my roomie (who's a very big techie/admin) as a IDEE drive reader to extract my info - so at least that's not a total loss.

Damn this years been hell and this just tops it. Freck.

Well, I'm off home. A bit early at that. So cross fingers that when I open it up that all I need to do is repair a connection to the mother board.

Technology sucks. I mean sure, when it's working right, it's great, but we're so dependent on it that when it craps out it really sucks.

Duck Tape to the rescue!!

I opened it all up and the actual port that the plug goes into is bad. So I put it all back together and plopped it on my desk, plugged the power in.

OMG I've got lights!!!

YAY!!!!

So I've ducktaped the power cord to the top of my desk as well as duck taped the laptop to the desk. This thing ain't going anywhere.

I hope it holds out long enough for me to save a few pennies to find something cheap.

All I can say is that the gateway/emachine laptops have way to many itty bitty screws.
