Hi! I'm new here.. been lurking for about a month. Forums confuse me, so I may be asking noob questions from time to time.
I'm an in-house graphic designer who's worked in Orlando for 10 years. I have a cat (http://www.jdesignconcepts.com/bosquish.jpg) and a husband (in that order :D ). I *heart* most things Disney and am glad I live so close to the "magic".
I dislike squirrels and ice in my drinks. Other than that, most things are fine by me. :)
Looking forward to meeting lots of you and participating in discussions! :D

Welcome! I'm cornfed, nice to meet you.
***** FALSE ADVERTIING ******
I thought this thread was about my all time favorite band New Kids on the Block .... Imagine my disappointment when I clicked on the thread and found out it did not include a thoughtful discussion of Jordan, Jonathan, Joey, Donnie and Danny. Thank you for crushing my dreams, and ruining my day.
Good Day.

Welcome jezZzca.
I too was wondering where my old friends were.
But remember...
First time was a great time,
Second time was a blast.
Third time I fell in love,
Now I hope it lasts.

Just a friendly moderator warning. Don't start new threads to post advertising links (ie your 'referral link' listed above that was removed by a site Admin).
Thank you.

ummm... I didn't start the thread to post an "advertising" link. I was just saying what sites I was into (including a music group and coupon site that were also removed), which is what Ithought "introduce yourself" was all about. Sorry, I wouldn't have included a 'referral link' if I had read anything about it being agains the rules in the "new user faq". And last time I checked, most people trying to "trick" you into going somewhere for advertising purposes, don't tell you what you are about to click first, which is what I did. Sorry that as a creative I found a site that has helped me with some recent web design projects that I thought others would enjoy. When I did a search for said site on here, I even ran across a few posts back from 2005 where people were talking about sending each other "referrals" and "invites". My bad, I didn't see any flags on those posts.

the rules DO specifically say "no advertising". I'll go ahead and add the "no posting referral links" to make it more obvious.
edited to add: any links posted in 2005 were posted before the forum changed hands, and would be removed under our current "Acceptable Use Policy".
Please respect the requests of moderators and admins regarding post content:
You will, if asked by a representative of the forums, cease posting any content and/or links deemed offensive, objectionable, or in poor taste by the staff of the forums.

Buda, I'll get you some if you really want! I went to a friends house the other night to remove a lizard from her bathroom. I was trapping it under some tupperware and accidentally dropped the tupperware on it's back. It was an instant death....that was comfortiing!! I felt bad about it!

thanks morea!
So just to be clear... can I mention site names and just not include any kind of link? Or is any mention of a site name unacceptable?
urstwile

It's acceptable to mention site names, just use your common sense. Your original post was allowed, links intact, because it looked like you were just posting sites that you liked.
When you created an additional new thread touting the icons site, that's what red-flagged it as spam and provoked one of the mods to delete your link references.
As a new member, just observe what other of the regular members do, and use your common sense to decide whether or not a link is appropriate.
After you've passed ten posts (at which point you will be able to send and receive PM's), you can PM a moderator if you're unsure.

k.. thanks!
i think i'll go back to just lurking now and stay away from posting for a long time

Actually, you'll do yourself a disservice in doing that in the long run. Mainly because if people see that you're a regular poster, they'll be less inclined to think that you're spamming.
Don't let one admonishing post deter you, feel free to contribute, surely there's stuff you can contribute that doesn't include links to sites.

it's just too confusing, that's all.. too many things to learn at one time, without making mistakes, being threadcrapped on.. or being confused with a spam bot... :OOOO

Well now that's like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Doesn't make good sense to me. Lots of people make little goofs when they first start posting here. The mods are here to set them straight and make sure everyone follows the guidelines of our little community. They were friendly enough, I think, and offered good suggestions to you if you doubt whether something is appropriate. Just move on and enjoy your time here!
