There was a thread a while ago about bus wraps and van wraps. Someone posted a link to a website that had a bunch of vehicles already drawn in line drawings free to DL and use....

I can't that link.... HELP!?!?!

unfortunately no... I thought it had more freebie vehicle templates (.eps) files. I could have sworn it was a .co.uk site, or something foreign...

if you find that I would be really intrigued. i would also be very hesitant when it comes to dlding free templates, most of the time they are free because they are not perfect and you won't find out till your doing the install and have to throw away thousands of dollars worth of vinyl.

its probably best to go with pro vehicle outlines, they have never done me wrong

While I agree D-Frag, I really could care less, cause the vendor we use re applies our artwork to their own templates. Sad thing is they won't release the template to us for use. So we design it with a mock 'van' and then they roceed to reinvent the wheel and apply our graphics to their template. I know i know, stupid. But it's not my choice, and i have fought in the past to change venders. Needless to say it is a loosing battle around here.

WOW. Do they require that you send it to them in crayon or do they accept digital files?

OK now I'm curious. Is the designer/design firm required to buy the template or do you only do wraps that you design yourself?

personally i feel that if the printer has the templates available and makes the end product nicer, more professional looking, and makes their job easier when files are recieved. Why not share them? You are only helping yourself in the end.... But to each their own *shrugs* Perhaps they aren't even owned by XYZ company.

You can buy a disk with all the templates.

Most printers are afraid if you take the templates, then you'll take the job elsewhere. It allows them to have more control.

I understand that point and agree that someone could take the job elsewhere, but it seems to leave the designer on a slippery slope. It also seems to require more work for the printer, but I have never done a vehicle wrap. Couldn't the printer charge for the template and then credit that much back to the customer off of the final price? Then the designer has specifics and the printer makes their money no matter who prints the final job. Plus they don't need to do as much "fine tuning" (hopefully).
