Who's with me?

I've opened a bottle of Bordeoux, got some goat and sheep cheses, some sun dried tomato bruschetta. mmmmmmmmm.

I'm with you. Got any stilton?

I'll try some sheep cheese. I have to admit though, I don't like goat cheese. Too "goaty". You have anything squeezed from bovines?

CamarotaDesign
08-04-2007, 07:36 AM
You might like this goat chevre, it's got a lot of herbs in it that cover up the goatiness. If not, I've got a fresh wedge of parmeson, some swiss elementaler, and some ricotta, but i was saving that for homemade raviolis so you'll have to come to my Italian cooking night, where I bust out my pasta maker and we maka the pasta!.

I only have two buck chuck and some cheese string. Can I still join in? Wait I have some of that stuff in the spray can... No...No...I ate all that, but I do have the cheese string still.

what is sprinkle cheese? It sounds as glittery as your welcomes. I am out of wine now. Better start on the creme de menthe.

budafist
08-04-2007, 08:21 AM
I just sliced some camembert from the fridge. I prefer camembert served at room temperature but I wasn't willing to wait that long :D

Camembert is my favourite. I'm no fan of stinky cheese like blue or parmesan. I feel like I should be a stinky cheese eater since all the people I know that are foodies are stinky cheese lovers but it just doesn't agree with me.

parmesan in a can :D

Would you eat parmesan out of a can? Do you sprinkle it onto the back of your hand and then lick it off and then down a shot of tomato puree?

Red Kittie Kat
08-04-2007, 08:40 AM
mmmm I never thought of that .... I just sprinkle it over spaghetti for the most part :D

frankster
08-04-2007, 08:41 AM
maybe that could work with a bloody mary Buda! and then bite into a stick of celery after. Urgh, I don't like celery though.

What about lick some garam masala, down a shot of pernot and bite whoever is sat next to you?

budafist
08-04-2007, 08:44 AM
Biting people isn't my style. I prefer licking their brains :)

I want dinner to cook faster so we can go out. I know we plan to arrive fashionably late, but there's fashionably late and then there's just plain too late.

Red Kittie Kat
08-04-2007, 08:44 AM
I think I like that one best Frank ... I tend to be a biter :D

So is it still Friday night over there? Or is it more like early wee hours of Saturday morning? It's almost 8pm here.

Hands out some still cold camembert out to guests.

Just finished yummy lamb dinner. The lamb was a bit undercooked (too impatient) but I don't mind undercooked red meat. It tastes good undercooked :)

Red Kittie Kat
08-04-2007, 09:11 AM
well ... I don't mind undercooked beef .. but that's about it ... undercooked chicken is just gross :D

But my chicken was good .. a nice roasted bird ... I had a little dollop of horseradish sauce to dip in to as well ;)

Red Kittie Kat
08-04-2007, 09:13 AM
On that note I'm heading back to bed :D

Knocks on door and enters, holding a bottle of merlot and some feta cheese...

Hello? Hello...

Looks around and sees a bunch of sleeping people surrounded by empty bottles, cheese wrappers and an empty jar of horseraddish....sits down on couch, pours a glass of wine and puts feet on coffee table....

Ah crap, fell asleep at my own party!!!! All that wine and Cheese... Especially when Tulip brings some good stuff.

Frankster, You are lucky I fell asleep, Because you never would have gotten in with your string cheese. My wine and cheese party is for snobs only, all cheese must be at least of the $7 per lb variety.... 2 buck chuck is not allowed, nor anything of the california bargain variety, French and Italian reds are preferred, If the label says "Table Wine" it is an abomination because that means the grapes have been blended, and it is not unpure. Also, the Appellation must be designated!....

Pretentiousness is an absolute must and you have to be wearing a turtleneck sweater or courderoy blazer. It's also preffered if you have some witty remarks and facts prepared about a post modern Artist or writer.

Oh, and if you have more than 2 glasses of wine and start raising your voice or change the chamber music I have playing in stereo, thats grounds for automatic expulsion.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, hey, I woke up with all these drawings on my face, you guys didn't like the host? I thought I was a great host! ;)

Urst.... mmmm, queso panela, that sounds good though I don't know what it is.... You are a Sierra Nevada Drinker too? SN Pale Ale is my all time favorite beer, pretty much my goto beer, anywhere I am, I order that one. You do know that it's brewed up here in Chico right? Spoiled, why yes, yes I am.

urstwile
08-04-2007, 10:17 PM
Yes, I did know that about where it was brewed, Cam. It's my default beer as well, although I'm also fond of Anchor Steam and lately Stone Pale Ale, when I can find it.

Queso panela is considered to be a class of fresh cheese, that is, one that's not been aged, so they have a shorter shelf life. It's really good crumbled on top of different Mexican dishes, but honestly, I can eat it just plain as a nibbling cheese. It's kind of like a mild version of feta cheese in texture but much less salty. It's yummy. :) Although I >3 feta as well, just we're living in a primarily Mexican neighborhood right now, so that's what they have and it's really good.

Ah ha! morea did slip in, I thought I heard someone whispering something about sunblock and comic sans....

Mmmm...urst....queso panela, can I trade you some feta for a bite?

Urst, here's some feta for you (trying not to sound like the cheese Nazi-- "SOME FETA FOR YOU!"). I made a pan of my grandmother's spanikopita with it if you want try a bite (places pieces of pita next to sleeping Kittie, Frankster and Buda, and brings a piece to expelled Cornfed)

Zen- I forgot to add, if you bring a cigar, only Cohibas are allowed. You are expelled. ;)

Urst - Yum, that sounds like some good cheese. Actually, I'm pretty sure I've had it. I used to get tacos at a place that put this white crumbly cheese that tasted like feta on it. That must be it. Mmmmm. I've been eating mostly vegiterian for the last 3 months, and cheese has never tasted better :)

Tulip - Why thank you for that napkin, no wonder I slept so soundly while you were all marking my face. Are you a cigar smoker as well? Cohibas are my absolute favorite, nothing beats a Siglo series with a nice glass of port.

Frank- That was my Burber organic cotton knit rug, It cost $129 a square foot, you owe me $5000. :p

I want to come to the commoner's party, I really do!!! I got some cheese wiz and pringles, just as good as havarti and table water crackers, mmmmm.

There will be freshly baked cheese and sausage rolls at the commoner's party too! Man...I want sausage rolls for lunch. That's it. Decided.

urstwile

Don't be bringing that stuff to the commoner's party, Cam. Just 'cause we're commoners doesn't mean we don't eat well, just means we're not spending $7 a pound on cheese. :)

I’ve been tossed out of some dives, but never a nice party like this! But, not to be rude to the host, I will defer and bring a Cohiba. +1 one for the host.

Urst- Hey now, this cheese whiz is $4 a can, thats pretty expensive for your commoner tastes is it not? ;) Actually, I like to get less expensive cheeses usually. Sometimes I really splurge though and get like $20 worth of gourmet cheeses along with a bunch of fancy bottles of wine. Gotta love Trader Joes. mmmmhmmmm.

Another thing, this reminded me of a funny time my friends and I were driving to the city (San Francisco) for a reggae show back in highschool.. and being stupid highschoolers we had beer along with us, and we we stopped at a stop light and a bum was there panhandling, and we asked if he wanted a beer, he said yes, then we handed him a coors light, and he said "no, I don't drink that stuff" LOL.... he's the Microbrew Drinking Bum! He may be a bum, but that doesnt mean he drinks crappy alcohol, lol.

Zen, Excellent choice my friend. I am a big fan of The Siglo I's. There is something about a small cigar that I especially love, though I do enjoy larger sizes like a corona.

Tulip, I think you may just enjoy a Cohiba. I really only like smoking the ones with a rich creamy smoke with a bit of chocolate and nut flavors to it. It goes absolutely fantastic with port or a late harvest Zin.

What's this? Are we sneaking literature into this party to try and raise the tone?

Bit of a guerilla movement rebelling against the wanton mass consumption of Wine and Cheese without sufficient intelligent conversation?
