Hi everyone. I decided to look for some website & graphic design related forums to join and found this site through google. I've been into website and graphic design since the late 90's and have been registered in other forums like sitepoint, webhostingtalk, etc.
Something about myself? I'm a young man (mid twenties), graduated as a social worker and doing freelance website & graphic. Only working with Photoshop, Imageready, Illustrator, Notepad and Dreamweaver MX at the moment. Currently looking forward to find out about how to make professional looking 3D things, so I can encorporate small 3D objects in the websites I create for clients, e.g. 3D computers/ web servers for hosting-related sites, etc.
I'm very interested in new design technologies and willing to communicate with others and share my experience.
I have a website (http://www.zenndex.com) where you can see some of my website design work. Under the zenndex.com flag I've been focussing on the web hosting market (hosting companies), which is reflected in my portfolio.
I hope I'll have a nice stay in here.
Best regards.

Anywho welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome all.
@ MD: I'm with my current host for a few months now and so far I'm very pleased with the quality, uptime and service they provide.
I'ts almost impossible to have a 100% uptime, :)

The only thing I noticed, since I joined two new forums, I got like 20 spam messages within a few days, while I never had spam on my mail before.
Somehow people can grab my email sine I registered or I can't hide it without being able to receive mail from members & mods?

Hey Zenndex! I am Zendada. We may be long lost brothers. If not we need to start a “Zen-Name” club for us coolcats. Welcome to the fun!

zenndex, In your user CP click on the "Edit Options" link. From there you can set up by who and under what circumstances the forum will e-mail you.
In the "Login & Privacy" section, make sure the "Allow vCard Download" is not checked.
In the "Messaging & Notification" section you can un-check the "Receive Email from Other Members" and still get e-mails from the admin.
Also if you are subscribed to any threads you'll get an e-mail anytime someone posts in it.
Are you sure the e-mails are coming from the GDF? Any e-mails forwarded through the profile e-mail have the following message at the top under the little text ad of the latest Jupitermedia special:
This is a message from ****** at Graphic Design Forum ( http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/index.php ). The Graphic Design Forum owners cannot accept any responsibility for the contents of the email.
To email ******, you can use this online form:

OR, by email:
mailto:*******@gmail.com

Thanks.
No, the emails don't come through this forum, but since I signed up my mailbox gets full with spam. Maybe my email gets picked up easier now, by people who are looking for email adresses.
I immediately disabled vcard download and only allowed mods to mail me.
But that didn't help apparently.

^ seriously... because I've been a member of this board for 3 years and never had a problem like you've described.

Well, the problem is that I don't find any options on that other forum that could cause this problem. vcard is also disabled and I only should receive mail from moderators. But it seems my e-mail adress is 'exposed' by one of the forums I recently signed up to, that's the only explanation I have.
But as I don't know enough about spam and how to protect myself from spam, I don't know how to solve it.
I'm using webmail to read my mails.

was vcard download enabled before? if so, i'd assume they already have your e-mail and disabling it now wouldn't do much. i use hotmail and i just report them all as junk mail, and eventually, most of them go to the junk mail folder automatically. i don't get that much tho.

This is precisely why I always use a "dummy" email account when I sign up for anything on the web – new forums, newsletters, buying stuff. I only check that address when I'm expecting some kind of confirmation email after registering somewhere. That way, when my address gets sold and I get 25-40 emails a day for penis enlargement, online degrees, free $500 gift certificates for Target and hot blondes losing their virginity, they all go to one place and I don't have to see them when I check my real email address (which I only give to people I personally know or a vendor I really really trust).

it was disabled by default, that's why it doesn't seem logical to me :s
Maybe I should just use a personal e-mail adress for those forums, but then again, I don't check my personal e-mails that much.
Entering a fake e-mail after registering doesn't work also, as they send a verification mail for that email-change.
