Police officers in Thailand are being forced to wear Hello Kitty armbands as punishment

That's just weird.

Surely some of the more "femining Officers" will start commiting minor offences more regulary.

They only said wearing them in the office.

Wearing something that denotes you've done something wrong around complete strangers? Who cares. People you work with, trust, and depend on? That's a little something different.

Not sure it would need to be pink and hello kitty however...

Does anyone know where I can get one of those cute armbands? ;)

i think the only way to get them is to become a thai cop and get reprimanded :p

My mate was telling me about this yesterday. I just assumed she was high, but apparently not!

Question: The waiter at my local Thai place served me shrimp pad Thai when I asked for chicken. Can I make him wear a Hello Kitty armband? :)

^^If they served you cat instead of chicken, I'd say most definitely.

We keep them in the supply closet for unruly employees. Don't tempt me. :)

I think you can litter in Thailand Kittie. I think you have to think more naughty than that.

Heard it on the news yesterday.

I doubt that it'll deter them. Over here we are still trying to work out ways of stopping traffic cops soliciting bribes for traffic violations...there's a new measure about to be enacted but I'll bet they'll still find a way around that.

That report also said that the said cops don't have to say what they did wrong...so how does that help?

Why not go the extra mile and make them wear other Hello Kitty accessories? I would like to see shoelaces, gloves, scarves, maybe a little beanie.

what happens if its a female cop? They would probably LIKE wearing it so it wouldn't work as a punishment there.

Ahem...I don't they have many female cops there...I certainly didn't see any the times I've been there. Cat?

If they are breaking the law then why are they just being made to wear hello kitty merchandise? If we applied that rationale to everyone then Sanrio stock would rocket and we'd have more jail space. WTF? Am i missing something huge here?

I wonder how the Hello Kitty brand feels about this. I know I'd be pisses if a cartoon I made became a symbol of punishment.

Maybe they are homemade knock offs?
