Overview:

Here are some things I wish to get cleared before you dive any farther into this. I am the creator and programmer of this game. The engine being used is vbGORE (http://www.vbgore.com), which I created nearly every single aspect of besides the graphics, maps, sounds and music. The engine itself is done - only touch-ups and slight alterations need to be done here and there, but it is mostly all content creating from here, so the game is already playable, and could be ready in less than 4 months if all goes according to plan. So don't worry about me not being able to hold up the programming side of things. :)

Here are some screenshots of the game. Keep in mind that these are mostly all graphics from vbGORE (except for the blood) - none of it will remain in the final product. I did not include a download, although it is fully playable if I give you the client, since it makes development quite a deal more difficult for me to run a public server, and develop on a private server both on my weak wittle computer. If you think you want the job but want to test the client first, give me a ring and I will send you the client.

* Its hard to capture the beauty of the motion blur from a screenshot.

P.S. Sorry for the slightly trimmed screenshots, didn't realize that until after I uploaded them.

The Job:

What I am looking for is either one or multiple graphic artists for a 2d online game I am developing / programming, Plagued Dead. There are two types of artists needed:

* Character designer - There only needs to be one character (male). The hard part is that there is a paper-dolling system, so every significant item (armor, weapon, helmet, etc) equipped is displayed on the character. This is done simply by stacking graphics, so you can't just create 3d models and textures and have the engine do the rest. Though, the easiest and fastest approach may be rendering stills with a 3d modeler, but what approach you take is up to you.

* Environment designer - Pretty much the whole environment of the game from grass and dirt to houses and trees. Theres not really any specifications here, just everything has to fit together. Note: You do not have to take part in the map designing if you do not wish to, though it would be preferred if you did since as the maker of the graphics, you will have the best idea of what graphics will be placed where and what they are intended for.

You may, of course, take on both positions if you wish.

The theme of the game is "post-apocalyptic horror", so dirty, trashy beaten' down environment is the key. Think maybe Diablo II (Ex 1 (http://www.vbgore.com/images/hosted/diablo1.jpg), 2 (http://www.vbgore.com/images/hosted/diablo2.jpg), 3 (http://www.vbgore.com/images/hosted/diablo3.jpg)) minus the "fantasy". I am not too picky on the style, as long as the style of everything matches and is appropriate for the theme.

Requirements:

Theres only two things I require. The first being the most obvious - graphical talent. I am not looking for a miracle worker who can dish out better-than-commercial quality, but I think you get the idea. If you are unsure if your graphics are good enough, feel completely free to give it a go and still show them - it never hurts to try!

The second is almost as important as the first - dedication. Time is not very critical - I understand that people can get very busy with real life, and that is perfectly acceptable and understandable. But you must be able to get at least some done every week. For the environment designer, this is mostly important since many maps have to be designed before any release can be made. For the character designer, the paper-dolling can be done at any time, even a few days before the first release, but it is preferred to not have this happen.

Payment:

Money gained from game subscriptions is how everyone will get their pay. The more work someone does, the more percentage they will get paid - simple as that. If you do a few tiles then leave, you are more than likely not going to get anything. On the other hand, if you are creating the graphics within a reasonable amount of time after being requested and stay with the project for quite some time, you're likely going to get a very generous percentage. I know this sounds iffy, but it is the only way I can go. This, too, means that you will not start earning anything until the game is publicly released and making a profit. How much you will make exactly, or what percentage you will get is impossible to say, but when the time comes I am open for debate and will strive to give you a very reasonable cut.

The Game:

Now for the fun stuff - the game itself. The complete outline of the game can be found at the following link:

http://www.vbgore.com/Plagued_Dead

Though that is quite long and lengthy and does not include everything I want to say, so let me summarize. This game will be created with the vbGORE (http://www.vbgore.com) engine that I created over a span of close to a year and a half. The game itself has been in development at least 2 months, and I have been working on the coding since the start of July. I know you hear this from every indy project to be posted, but this is a very serious project, and I think my dedication to making just the engine alone shows that I am ready to put forward the time and effort, along with have the skills needed, to create this.

The game itself is, as mentioned earlier, a post-apocalyptic themed game. The content of the game will be more mature-aimed, so no gore is spared for the kids. I am trying to really branch away from the typical MORPG style of a fantasy world full of Fighters and Mages that we seem to be so heavily abundant on. The game will be unique enough to give a different experience compared to every other MORPG played. Though, I am not completely trying to redesign the system.

If you are not completely satisfied with the small game outline, which I doubt anyone is, I am very open for discussion on changes to be made on the system with the rest of the staff since it is their game, too.
