Maybe someone can help me with this. I got a CD with a hockey program on it, done in Correl. Not sure what version. I have version 9 on our PC at work, but when I try to open the files on the CD, all I get are blank documents.
I have no idea what to do, or why it's doing that. http://www.graphicdesignforum.com//emoticons/dry.gif

Could be Corel 10, 11 or 12. Your Computer will only say that the file is Corel 9 because it is a .Cdr
Call the client.

Do you have Illustrator? I know if you open a .cdr in Illustrator CS it usually works. I recently figured that out when a client called me a moron for not knowing I could open .cdr files in Illustrator. Bet you can guess what burner his project went on too!! ha!

If a client tells you to open .cdr files in Illustrator I would highly suggest you get a proof signed off in ink before running with it. I would have suggested politely that the client could export his cdr as an eps like the rest of the world (stuff I receive from Corel is usually vector so eps would work.).
