So as some of you know, my camera died while shooting pics at my friends wedding. I was horribly saddened by this because this camera costs me a shit ton of money and it wasn't even 3 years old when it broke. I initially called Sony when it broke and they tried to tell me it would be $200 just to open it, then additional costs after that. Considering my cam is selling on ebay right now for around 300-400 I saw no need to put money back into something broken. I was deeply sore with Sony and the fact of not being able to have a camera was killing me, it seemed now that I didn't have one, I would see some cool shit to shoot but remembered im cameraless.

Soooooo, I started doing some research. I come to find out, that im not the only one with this mysterious breakage (LCD screen looked like waterpainting, so did my pics) turns out Sony used some craptastic cheapo CCD screens for there cameras and called the **** out on it. I came across a class action lawsuit on the web, did some more digging and found out im eligible for my camera to be fixed.

So now im waiting impatiently for the mailing labels to get to me so that I can send the cam back to Sony and have them replace the parts. Im still keeping my fingers crossed cuz its not set in stone, but from the testing I did on the class action suit regarding my camera it looks like the problem they are getting sued for is the exact problem I have. So hopefully in the next month or so, I will be back out shooting at events, and im oh so excited. Thought I would pass on the good news, oh yeah and **** SONY!

Well, it's good news it's getting fixed.

At least Sony didn't break your computer as well. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Sony_BMG_CD_copy_protection_scandal)

yeah they haven't broken my puter yet, but I have sent my first gen ps2 back to them 5 times in 2 years and its needing to go back again soon as it wont play madden 08'

im done with them, have been for quite some time now, i wont buy another sony product ever in my lifetime and i have told them this numerous times. in fact, just to be a dick, ill find out who there direct competitors are and give them a whirl before i ever buy another sony product. ugh, i hate cheap shit that costs an arm and a leg.

Sorry to hear about your camera D-frag. At the beginning of the summer I bought a Sony tripod but, guess what was not in the box-the camera shoe and lock (what the camera actually attaches to). So I called Sony and after many, many days of being bounced from person to person, they said that they would send me what I need free of charge. They only sent the shoe not the lock that the shoe goes into. When I told them about it they said they would have to charge me for the lock that THEY DID NOT SEND!!! So yes, I will agree with you that Sony sucks big ones. Now my camera is attached to the tripod using rubber bands. I kid you not. :(
