My client sent me a barcode in both PDF and EPS formats for me to use on the dvd design I am currently designing. THe EPS format is not working because it is giving errors and not allowing me to save once I clicked and drap onto the file. So I decided to try the PDF file. Now my question is how can I get barcode from the PDF file into Illustrator? I know it has something to do with taking a picture of the barcode in PDF and then Paste it in illustrator? If so I don't get a paste option when I try this. Need help

You can also "edit image" in Acrobat which should open the barcode in illustrator. Then do a save as.

That's correct. You'll need Acrobat Professional using "touchup abject tool"

Most of the time. Security settings will, of course, nix that. But there's also other junk that can make this route go kaplooie.

And always check the resulting type/colour specs carefully. You never know where lurks a font-based typo or RGB black. That sort of thing.

Oh, here's another tip: sometimes on a very complex, hugely difficult PDF, what you want is just a small object or two. Often, you can just use the Object Touchup Tool to select what you need, Copy. Then select all and Delete. Paste the object back from clipboard and resave under a new file name for a PDF of just the objects you wanted, in a smaller, much more manageable file size.
