Buda asked me to post this here so people could get an idea where the calendar project is at and headed. It is unedited, so consider it draft form only. Technical Terry, Drazan or Balou, if you could chime in on how a press release works, so people know what to do with this when it gets to it's final stage (it should be available on the cause4design web site as a downloadable document0, that would be fabulous. I'm not all that familiar with the process.

Press Release
Graphic Designers Unite Globally for Worthy Cause

____Place_________, September 30, 2007: Forty – six graphic designers, artists, and printers from around the world united to create a calendar to assist in raising funds needed by the family of Andriana Senarighi. Also known as Ana to her friends and family, the eleven year-old is currently undergoing tests and treatments for an inoperable brain tumor. The medical diagnosis officially known as Brainstem Gliomas translates into layman’s terms as having a tumor that affects the nerves in the cranial area. It impairs vision, swallowing, and facial movements. Because the tumor is inoperable, Ana’s only viable treatment comes in the form of chemotherapy.
Upon hearing about Ana’s plight and surmounting bills, the designers and artists came together on a web forum called graphicdesignforum.com where Ana’s father Pete is a member and one of the moderators for the parent company Jupitermedia.com. Pete is a self-employed freelance designer who lives and works in Minnesota.
The forum members banded together to donate their skills and time to create a calendar to sell to the public as a fundraising endeavor. The project has taken on a collaboration of ideas and processes that take part in various parts of the world. A project manager coordinates all aspects of the project from Austrailia; design specs for the calendar sparked from Wisconson, the web designers worked together from Rochester, MN and ___________, and the calendar is being printed and shipped from ________________.
The calendar displays weekly designs ranging from whimsical to romantic and everything in between. For more information about the calendar and the project, visit cause4design.com or oneana.com.

For Release 6 a.m. GMT, September 30 (?)

Tea - I work in PR. If you'd like, I'd be happy tweak and repost this some point this week (maybe even today). Cheers

Quick correction - I don't think that Ana's father is a member here, he is a mod on another jupiter forum.

Just what I see from a quick readthrough, I will look at it again when I am more awake.

Corrections in red:

The medical diagnosis, officially known as Brainstem Gliomas, translates (add commas)
The project has taken on is a collaboration of ideas (delete underlined portion)
Buda is from New Zealand, not Austrailia....

I really like the bit at the end where you describe what happened where, it really expresses the globalness of the project.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on this before Tea. Thanks for writing this!

Are we sure Ana's Dad is a freelance designer? JPNYC would know for sure.

Also not sure if there will be a link on oneana.com.

The last paragraph seems to jump around a bit. How about something like...

The forum members banded together to donate their skills and time to create a calendar to sell to the public as a fundraising endeavor. The project is a collaboration of members around the world.

The calendar displays a new design each week. Each is an original design ranging from whimsical to romantic and everything in between. For more information about the calendar and the project, visit cause4design.com or oneana.com.

Wow, reading that press release really made me feel exicted about this. The global thing makes this project's intentions touching and cool. Well done Tea.

Where should the location be? I mean it's global. How about "Location: Global, Origin: www". Or something. Suggestions?

Riya is right, I'm from New Zealand. If there is one thing I know about Riya, is that she's good at GDF member trivia!

Forty – six graphic designers, artists, and printers from around the world have united to create a calendar to assist in raising funds needed by the family of Andriana Senarigh

Once the price for the calendar is sorted, should we mention the price there? Or does that make it sound too much like an advertisment and less like a press release?

I wouldn't say that, and I'm pretty sensitive to advertising shtick.
