Omnitel is a telecommunications consultant. The client wanted to keep there corporate colours and bold typeface.

Radio waves eminating from the Omnitel, the tel is highlighted because thats what the company is doing, and also when comunicating people tell things to each other.

This is a very quick mock up, I will try and get some more ideas up soon.

2 colour and shiny web version.

Since the tel is darker, it's the rest of the logo that seems highlighted. Maybe reverse the colours?

Transparency in a logo...?
You'll have no control over standard color unless all those overlaps are spot.
Leaving the faded swoosh aside,
Your top one is a 2 color paint job.
The bottom one has potential to be a 4 color paint job.
Not all logos uses involve CMYK or Spot colors screens...

Reverse the light and dark blues like star=ted before in order to highlight the "tel".

This is very true, however, I am really curious as we move into better, cheaper printing, that these will play so much of a role in logo design.

Obviously the basic theorys are still valid, but as digital printing has become much more widespread I think it is much more acceptable to have 4 color or even more logo designs. That being said, I still try to conform to convention when designing a logo.

Good thought poor execution.

This logo is not very memorable or unique as it stands.

i agree, right now the execution is poor. the waves don't seem to fit in with the type at all. maybe if you used the upper curve of the O and resonated them outward that way, it'd blend in and fit more.

think of more ways to integrate it into the type, if you can.

good start!

At the moment you have a very generic looking logo. It could be associated with any radio/audio/telecom business and more.

Look at the company name for a start. "OMNI"tel. Omni comes from the Latin Omnis and means "in all ways" or "in all places" (as in omnipotent or omnipresent). It's a cracking good name for a telecom company! Use this meaning to come up with some unique concepts and you'll be off to a good start.
