I'm trying to make the switch from Quark to InDesign, and with the help of "help" I am figuring most everything out...

EXCEPT...

I can't get the X and Y boxes to reflect the distance from the corner of the page!!! I don't know what it's set to, but it's confusing the heck out of me. Like if you put 1" and 1" in X and Y, it goes off the page at the top and side. It seems like there must be a setting/preference to change this but I am tired and haven't had enough coffee or something, because I can't figure out how!

Help pleeeeeaaaaase.

hmm, maybe try edit>preferences>units & increments>origin>page?

It's all based on 0, 0 being in the upper left corner.

But, keep an eye on how your reference point is checked.

depending on which reference point you're using, it could be placed somewhere different than where you're expecting.

Double click the crosshairs in the upper left corner where the page rulers meet to reset the origin. It may just be in the wrong place.

Craig B, you were right, and I love you. :o (Why does it default to center???)

Yes, I suppose that's true. But are you suggesting the world does not revolve around me? ;)
