thats it, it took like about 8 layers to accomplish this, as of recent ive found an easier way to do it, but there ya have it,


Then i took the second image and wated it finished off, so i took another pic of me i had with a hat on and "melted" it in, then redid all the filters and such.

well i wouldn't call that a cartoon since its not drawn just photoshop filtered. its nice for what it is

i really think what i did was mis-understood, i didnt just filter it, there was filtering, then editing , using blending options, mre erasing then more layers, then more moving things around matching them up, it wasnt as simple as "just filtering" its being made to sound as if i merely clicked a filter plugin on the photo and whala! art! not the case... ::dissapointed::

But where are the drawing skills? Cartoon implies there is some drawing involved. As said before, it's nice for what it is.

The SPOOKY version isn't too flash.

I did a VERY similar project with a friend to show him the ins/outs of PS, and there is a bit of work involved, but heavily (obviously) filtered images are what seperate the vets and n00bs in PS.

I am in not in any way labeling your work as amatuerish or n00bly, just saying that when the GDF'ers see an image, and can instantly think to themselves exactly how it was accomplished, then it sort of looses its edge.

try to go for the "how'd he do THAT" factor.

What's the point in spending a lot of time to produce something that looks easy?

Reminds me of this artist that had this installation that looked like a pile of cardboard boxes. Most people walked by dismissing it as "found art" but I looked closer and when I did, I realised that all his cardboard boxes sculptures were actually carved out of wood.

Now what you want to do, is to do something that looks really complex and wonderful but was reletively easy to do.

The "cartoon" implied it was mean to look like one, thats why it said "cartoon style" anyway, sorry im not up to par, and my stuff is "so easy" The look i was going for, was accomplished. I didnt make it so people could tremble in PH34R of my 1337N355! Just wanted it to come out exactly as it did. art accomplished, minus the "SPOOKY" part that was an addition i cant take off now cuz i lost the psd.

Getting crit from others is free and worth your while. Sure, you will get a different response from some other art forums, but this place is full of professionals that do graphic design for a living.

If you are serious about this and want to move forward from doing this as a hobby, then have a look around here and see what others are working on. It will give you an idea of where we are coming from.

We're not here to make you feel bad, we don't have time for that. We're telling it how we see it and hopefully you will grow from that.

hey man not trying to knock it. i was just saying a cartoon is something you draw not a photo thresholded out repeatedly. it has the cell shaded look to it kinda like scanner darkly. you put your stuff up for critique and you got it. if you plan on doing this for a living you better get used to taking criticism. cause you'll be getting it your whole career :)
