InDesign preferences file handling - choice does not stick

i am getting a disc full message from indesign so i tried to set the fiilehandling preference for data recovery to another disc - when i restart Indesign it has reverted to the old disc which dioesn't have enought room on it (less than 1 gig) the new choice has about 10 gigs free.

am i doing something wrong, should i be doing something els, how can i get the preference to "stick"

I'm not 100% sure on this one, but are you setting the recovery info for files while not having any files open? If so, I don't think this will change the preference on individual files that have the old preference, you might need to set that for each specific file.

thanks you - i don't know why but the last time i tried it it worked - maybe i had a file open - i will check that next time.
