Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Here's my first critique request for a logo. It's for a pizza place opening up soon and the owner wants something "edgy, simple and crisp" and doesn't want to reference his menu (I'm guessing, that means no pizza or any other food graphics). So far this is what I've got. I'm not sure if any of these work in terms of the whole "edgy, simple and crisp" aspect or not.
Anyways, here are the logos, please be gentle.;)

I think that the one on the top left is the strongest.

I like the top left too- However I think there could be a better font. . . The others with the brush applied to the stroke make it look like a banana. I'm not a big fan of Bananas and Pepperoni. . .

I think the top right with a different font. You have the pizza shape and a moon in there

There's more to design than illustrator brush effects and free fonts.

The top left is a good start, but I think it might be good for you to get with your sketch pad and explore some other ideas. Its a good name for a restaurant and I think you could push this a lot more.

sorry to say but i think someone who knows word could easily make a logo like that, try editing the outlines of some of the letters, joining them up, subtracting etc.
id recommend brain storm rather than using your (i presume) first idea of a moon (that you would have gathered from luna)

Crap, I didn't see that when I did it and now that's all I see. And to make things worse, I hate bananas with a passion.

Yeah, I know. I was just looking through my font library for fonts that had a sharp, somewhat crips look to them that weren't overly simple or boring as for the brush strokes, it was just something I honestly have never even used before in Illustrator and wanted to give it a shot and see how it turned out. I didn't think it looked to bad at first, but thanks to Crimson and the above statement, all I see when I look at it now is a damn banana.

It's all good. I can take the harshness that comes along with the wonderful world of the internet. I'm a member of a few car forums and we can be downright cruel and very abusive to one another.

Good idea with the editing of the outlines, I'll look into that. As for the brainstorming, I've been doing that for a few days now and it even prompted me to post about in the General section here as I've got a pretty big case of designers block and can't get that damn moon shape out of my melon.

If you have had designers block for 3 days that is a bit of a worry. I would recommend reading some of De Bonos books or any creativity / brain storming book for that matter.

VERY INTERESTING. Recommend to all.

I have a few books on logos that I usually look through when the brains isn't working like it should be to help me get into the right mindset, but for some reason, it didn't help out this time. Thankfully, it's not widespread to other work I'm doing, it's just localized to this one particular logo. However, I will be sure to check out that link and if I have time this weekend, perhaps I'll head to good 'ole Barnes & Noble.
Lets move on and forget the moon exist.

don't go there when you can probably get whatever book that is for peanuts at half.com or amazon!

Oh, I wouldn't go there to buy, just to sit in the comfy chairs and take up space and read a bit and if I like what I read, then I'll head to good 'ole Amazon or Half.com. :D
Oh and thanks for the critiques guys. Those first round are already at the client and while I'm not completely happy with the, we'll see what they say.
Thanks again.
